I have been helping someone who I first met in our homeless shelter. She is very intellegent, and at core a very good person, BUT... she is incredibly paranoid. And recently she told me about the implant in her sinuses and about Satan dancing on her bed at night. I'm not sure how to deal with her. She seems unaware that she's mentally ill. She seems to cycle - at times she's more aggressive than others and there's more "drama" in her statements/proclamations. I'm not sure of how to deal with her when she is particullarly irrational. Tell her to chill? Push back when it involves some of the wierd nastiness that comes out?I have no real idea of a diagnosis, but I do see paranoia and, as I said, things like a belief in a brain implant.

Hi Concerned,

How have you been helping her?  Is she taking medication?  Many people will not.

Homeless or not, contact social services.  This woman needs professional help, possibly as an inpatient.
