I started Lexapro 20mg 6months ago, to help deal with 8years of physical abuse ending when I was 17, psychological abuse, being drugged with marijuanna to keep me complacent, and complete alienation from the only adult who'd never abused me.
6months on, I'd gained 15kg, after previously being 130kg, and dropping down to 68kg healthily. My life is what is was, and I just had apathy. No emotions. Not happiness, nor sadness, just faked emotions from apathy.
The weight is what made me decide to quit lexapro. Now I'm totally emotionally crazy, and it's only day 3. I'm alienating my boyfriend, and putting him through absolute hell.
How can I make this better??
Hey! Sounds like you've have a really tough time of if. Lexapro is an antidepressant which is part of a group call SSRI's (Selective seratonin re-uptake inhibitors). It isn't normally associated with weight gain as such, but alterations in appetite up or down. You really shouldn't stop without speaking to your doctor, but there are lots of different SSRI's and you need to find one that works for you. Go back to your doc and ask them to re-assess you and tell them why. He will tell you to exercise as that helps you feel better and should also regulate your metabolism. Have a go - I'm sure you'll enjoy doing something new. Good luck!
