I am at my wits end. I am 73 years young and In december of 2011 I went in to have the muscles in both eyes tightened- I chose a prominant Plastic Surgeon Opthomalogist in Dallas TX. On my first visit my Surgeon told me I would not be happy with just fixing the droopy muscle and he could lift my brow back to its normal posistion and remove the hollows under my eyes using the same incisions-I did not look bad but my Peripheral vision was impacted. I agreed to do the surgery as reccomended. After surgery I was extremely swollen very red ETC-Did not think to much about it I figured it would go away-- It did and then I started haveing swelling eppisodes big knots would come up overnight over my left eye,then my temples then my right eye ETC Each time this happened-Sugeon said he did not know what was wrong. I even had an MRI on one occassion, that showed an infection in my lower left lid. My eyes would swell shut and the only thing he did was put me on Steroids and Antibiotics- For seven months post surgery I was on Steroids and Antibiotics . It woud clear up then come back- Surgeon never knew what was wrong. He speculated that I was reacting to the the Sutures he called Screws. (I did not think this was right) I have had several surgeries and never had a reaction to sutures or any complications. I ask for a second opinion and did see the head of Plastic Surgert Opthomology at SouthWestern Medical School- He did not know what was wrong either. But THOUGHT it could be the screws/Sutures. But I still wasn't convinced. My Internist started testing me for anything and everything she thought could be a cause. All came back normal.. Then I went to a Internist Allergist with a specialty in Imunnology- He could not find anyy cause either. By this time the Original Sugeon is getting peeved and starts tellin me that there is something wrong with my body. And he could only suggest removing the sutures(they were supposed to disolve) SO, on May 2nd of 2012 I finally agreed, did not know what else to do-- I went in and had all the FOREIGN material removed. And post surgery the swelling started again, My surgeon is now almost mean about seeing me and he told me I'm just a mytery. The last time I saw him I asked him to please help me and I also told him I did not like the way my eyes looked as they were not symetrical anymore and left eye was pulled and well --lets just say I looked better before with my droopy lids. He was rude and told me not to come back for a month-That he thought I have some weird thing wrong with my systemj and no one had found it yet. Now my eyes are swelled shut I am back on Steroids again- I have gained weight and have sleepless nights because of the Side effects of Steroids-Big round face ETC.. I can't make plans, because this happens and I'm house bound can't drive and I still have no idea what is wrong. I have written letters to him asking him to help or point me to someone who will help and he does not respond. I think something went wrong in the First surgery- Only he would know? No other doctor will do anything and tell me to go back to him... Last but not least the second surgery was on him-- YET he charged me for use of HIS surgical center and filed the sugery on my insurance. Has anyone heard of this complication?
