I recently had food get stuck in my esophagus (although I could still breath) and had to get knocked out at the E.R. and have a scope put down my throat and have the food dislodged. From a previous post I learned that this esophagus issue may have been caused by my allergy. I miss eating poultry!

It started with mild stomach pain, swelling, and bloating, and bad gas. I probably had symptoms most of my life, but they were so mild to begin with, I didn't notice.
Once I got off of eating chicken, I started feeling better. After a few mknths, I tried eating a small piece of chicken sausage, and had stomach pains for a week. So after that I started being really good about not eating chicken. A couple of weeks ago I was a a friend's house, and without knowing, ate sausage that contained chicken in it. About 30 minutes afterwards, I started getting a bad headache, and got really cold. Later I was freezing, and the headache turned into a migrane, and I was physically shaking, and couldn't get warm. Then the nausea set in, and I eventually threw up everything. After that, I started getting the thick saliva coming up, but I eventually started getting warm again, and feeling better.
I want to thank everyone who has replied to this post, because it validated what I have always felt to be true. I too have had someone tell me it's all in my head, and it infuriated me. Maybe someday there will be a cure for this!

Does anybody else get crazy annoyed that everything is becoming made with chicken nowadays? I bought a stick of "beef jerky" once, took one bite and IMMEDIATELY knew something was off. I look at the ingredients and sure enough- mechanically separated chicken. It's ridiculous. I suffer from most of the symptoms everyone has mentioned, but the absolute worst for me is a extreme, and I mean EXTREME bouts of heartburn and indigestion. Combined with the swelling of the throat I've almost made a few trips to the ER. The heartburn and indigestion is unbearable. I've just grown to avoid white meat altogether. I'm very intrigued that a few people mentioned being mostly allergic to either dark or white meat. I can't eat either. Actually typed "white meat allergy" into google tonight because I'm currently having a rough time after eating some fish for dinner. Fish has always been kind of hit or miss with the allergy, so I eat it once in a blue moon, but the pain I feel tonight might keep me heading towards ever eating fish again.

I've had an allergic reaction to chicken and other poultry since I was little, but the only symptom that I had was chest pain. Over this past summer I ate some kielbasa but was unaware that it contained turkey, afterwards my eyes were red, itchy and my vision became blurry. My whole body became red and extremely rashy and I couldn't breathe. I took a cool shower thinking it would help (that was dumb) but it got even worse... I felt like my skin and eyes were on fire. I ran downstairs to my mom and showed her my reaction luckily my moms friend and our neighbor was a nurse and was over for a few drinks with her and my dad. I showed my neighbor my back and face, she said that I was burning and that she hadn't seen anything like it before. I was quickly instructed to take some benadryl, about 20 to 30 minutes of hell passed before I felt better. I always told my parents that I was allergic to poultry but they never believed me up until that time.
At least I'm not the only one with this odd reaction.

Im also allergic to chicken and turkey, but Im able to eat duck fine as well as pheasant, infact i preffer it , although it is more costly. I have had the allergy since my teens, I think I ate too much in my younger years as a kid and that has lead to a build up of a protein found in chicken and turkey. I get a heat rash (hives) after just a small amount of it. It does cause a large amount of amusement when Im offered chicken and I say Im allergic, most think Im having a laugh and dont belive me, I just tell them to 'google' it.
What I would like to know from others if its safe to eat goose, quite fancy trying some for Christmas this year, but dont want to buy it if Im going to be all itchy and spotty over the holidays lol
