I may never find this thread again but hopefully for all of us suffering with a person that we care about like this you know I wish you all luck. Maybe he should stay off coffee and take an anti-seizure pill like gabapentin
I don't know there has to be something that keeps this person levelheaded
And just so you know he doesn't remember his actions either he just remembers how I reacted to him behaving that way
Stay strong try to figure it out I don't know it's 2017 almost and it's amazing that these situations still go on undetected by the medical field
And by the way he does stand up and walk and he's capable of all that kind of stuff it's just his attitude his attitude completely goes berserk
Anyway I hope that this reaches the right people at the right time I guess who knows maybe in the next five years somebody else will read this and feel comfort in knowing they're not alone and it's not some weird thing that you're imagining it's an actual fact that my guy and obviously other people's family members are going through something chemically weird .
And that's it have a good day !

Mel, so far no diagnosis for myself but have found others who have been diagnosed with ABS. Look at the Facebook page 'Autobrewery Awareness Syndrome, & 'Auto Brewery Syndrome Support' for more information and Dr details who won't fob you off

This syndrome called Auto Brewery Syndrome ABS is not new -- it was first described in the 1960s and was described by many doctors in England and Japan.
Dr Barbara Cordell has started a website about it to try and put resources in one location. There are facebook pages where people discuss their issues as well as successes with other sufferers and their partners.

I trekked my husband, our 2 small children (8 months) over to the doctors office, to try to figure out what is wrong.
I made a list for the doctor:
*Mindlessness --
-could not perform routine tasks: ie
remembering own email address (works in IT)
-took off baby's pants during diaper change, instead of putting pants back on baby, put clean pants in the laundry instead, then got more pants out and put them in crib, then found looking for more pants. Child still standing in crib pantless
-put half full dishwasher on, did not check for soap, just turned on for no reason
-grabbing at our sons foot under the table and holding it for awhile and thinking it was our infant daughter who was across the room
-throwing clean clothes into the laundry
-watching me pump breastmilk and then mindlessly throwing it down the sink, and then not remembering that he even did it.

*When asked fairly simple questions – looks right through you and after further prompting may end with an “I don't know” ie
- Did you eat today
- Were you asleep
*Not able to stay on task ie
- Book time with our son before bed- wrestling instead, leaving in the middle of reading a book to put on laundry. Or not reading/stopping in the middle and staring into space,l and our son having to remind him “Daddy Read”
- Feeding our infant her solids – staring at her and not remembering what was supposed to be done
- Going downstairs to grab something needed (item for dinner), and not coming back up for a very long time.
- Starting to get a bedtime snack ready for our son (same thing every night), but staring blankly in the fridge
Tasks taking a very long time, or not getting done as a result.
*Heading to the bedroom when friends are over and falling asleep
*Occasionally manhandling the kids when trying to play – and not realizing
*not getting to sleep at night, not waking once asleep. Falling asleep at strange times.
*Coming home after leaving for work, and sleeping (ie Monday – slept all night, then 10-2:30, then in the car ride to the doctors)
I considered perhaps as he was borderline diabetic in past results, as well as as other posters had suggested thyroid could be a factor, or perhaps something going on with his brain. I was fearful of what could be causing my husband to be so mindless/acting drunk.
I wanted him to be tested for these things, or God knows what else it could be.
He swore up and down, and on our children's lives, that it wasn't alcohol.
I expressed to him how worried I was, and that I would rather it be alcohol than all of the things I was imagining. At least then we could deal with it.
Again, it was communicated that it was definitely NOT alcohol.
He has alcoholism and his family. He has had issues with alcohol in the past. However he has sworn on the kids lives before, and lied to my face, and then I either found hidden alcohol or he's finally admitted it to me.
However a little trust has been rebuilt, and I felt that he was telling me the truth.
Boy was I foolish.
He even went through with blood tests- the result was that hey found elevated kidney function which would be from recent alcohol consumption.
He then tried to lie to me again....
Anyhow. Now to figure out MY next steps...
