I know these were written a long time ago, but I am experiencing exactly the same thing with my husband. He too improves with strong coffee and eating protein, but the best antidote is sleep. When I describe it to him, he cannot believe I am talking about him. Neither can I really, He did drink some, but has stopped sometime ago (I have checked into the idea he still is a thousand different ways, covert and overt, and I do believe he has stopped). He owns his own business and works very hard physically and has had anxiety issues since he was small (OCD) but it seems under control. This "condition" does seem worse with more physically demanding days. I have started trying to get sugar and protein into his system as soon as possible. He also drinks those energy drinks during the day which concerns me. The idea of migraines is very interesting. Blessings to each of you dealing with this. I am greatly comforted learning that it is not unique to us.

My mother had these "episodes" on and off. we used to think it was drinking but Ive been with her for whole days when she doesn't drink and I've been with her while she has a drink and there's no switch. I've been going through this with her since I was a teenager (I'm in my 30s now). It caused so many fights and I wouldn't even let her watch my daughter for a little while because I thought she was drinking. She has low blood sugar but takes medication for it. The only difference I see is that there's more time in between the episodes now. It's good to know other people experience this, but has anyone figured out what causes it? I'm concerned. I was convinced it was a chemical imbalance, but can't find anything on the web.

my partner has no sleep problem.he has just had the worse episode ever, he went out to talk to someone for an hour on his return was unbalanced, slurred speech, sweating and unable to hold conversation.he felt really ill and nausiuos.sugar levels fine. only thing to help is sleep. I don't know how long I can put up with this .the doctors cant help and are very dismissive.if anyone knows where to turn next please let me know. we need help

My heart goes out to all of you who are going through this themselves or their loved ones. My husband had the same thing. It would come over him suddenly where he would become detached, ask same questions repeatedly, disoriented, uncontrollable laughing that would last a couple days maybe every other week. It broke my heart and was so afraid for him. He was my best friend, soulmate, I love and miss him very much. I used to search the internet but could never find anything on this. I felt so alone. Now a year later, I decided to search again and found this. In a previous reply someone said it could be binswangers disease. I had no idea how many were going through this. The doctors couldn't tell me anything either. I pray for all of you in Jesus name.

Just to add to my previous posts suggesting to watch that video. I finished reading all the posts here and am so appalled how many of us have suffered. When we ask for help from our doctors or hospitals, there is little help. They either refer you to another dr, tell you what it could, maybe be, or look at you like you have two heads. That outrages me that they provide no comfort or help when the suffering is so great. Like some previous posts say, please keep posting here with updates and any info you may have. Thank you

I thought diabetes also until after a year, i coughr my fiance smoking pcp. I was wondering why it never happened right in front of me. As soon as he was ourta my sight, 2 drags of a smoke and suddenly he sounds like rocky balboa. Sugar usually makes you weak, he would clean thw house for 3 hours, not weak at all, thats why i started reallty looking.

I know this thread is old but my husband goes through the EXACT same thing. He is 31 and struggled with alcohol abuse in his younger years so I believed that he possibly was stretching the truth about his drunkenness but there are times when I have been with him the ENTIRE day or night and know for a fact he hasn't been drinking. What causes this?? It is very scary and has led him into angry episodes that have left me feeling helpless and unsure of what solution to seek

no one has an answer for us. doctors think we are making a fuss and wont recognise it but unless they are going through it like us no body can know how awful the episodes are for the people around them. I am considering getting in touch with American sites and doctors as I'm sure they wouldn't just poo poo it.our relationship has suffered enough now as I'm sure a lot of others have.

I have an employee who just went thru a two day drunk without drinking anything. She has a thyroid disease too. I found some info on auto-brewery syndrome or fermentation disorder. It gas to do with an over abundance of yeast in your intestine. When you eat certain foods it mixes with the yeast and turned to pure alcohol. It was on The Doctors and it is something they are just discovering.
