i am 20 and have had problems/symptoms for over 1 year, lots of std checks, ultrasounds of ovaries - all came back with nothing, abnormal smear, then finally colposcopy and biopsy and second smear which revealed no more abnormal cells however i was told i had inflammation of the cervix - not caused by std's. no idea what caused it but i have had treatment today called cold coagulation which should get rid of all symptoms hopefully - 1 year and 4 months after i first complained of symptoms

I'm 17 and have been sexual active for 3 months and I just recently found out I have HPV. Me and my boyfriend had sex before we found out and I had a weird jelly-like blood come out. When I had my first pap I had abnormal cells and had to do a biopsy. It turned out I had an inflamed cervex as well as the HPV. My boyfriend and I did a lot of research and the blood after sex can be caused by numerous things. I would suggest looking and asking around with different doctors because most of them are idiots and give you shitty advice.

Hope you feel better!  You're not alone.

Hi Ladies,

I've been struggling with this kind of pain for years and have some info to share. First of all any woman with unexplainable vaginal pain or vulvar pain or pelvic pain should seek out a vulvadynia specialist. They are usually located at the largest teaching hospitals as a general rule. Maybe they are listed as a specialist gynecologist some places. Second, these cervical/BV/UTI/yeast problems that seem to occur cyclically can sometimes be treated by boosting your immune system (think probiotics! The VSL 3 kind that are at Costco if you ask the pharmacist are 10 to 20 times stronger than any others!). The big new thing with doctors and pharmacists is the vaginally delivered "pre-biotic" named Luvena, also available without a prescription. This helps repopulate your vagina with healthy bacteria that actually kill the bad bacteria that may be causing the inflammation. Basically whenever you take an oral antibiotic you kill the good bacteria in your gut and your vagina, leaving your immune system unable to fight infection, and leaving the bad bacteria plenty of room to colonize. Anything you can do to reduce systemwide inflammation (think diet changes and adding fish oil to your diet), boost good bacteria with probiotics, and reduce irritants (lose the dyes and perfumes, and consider period suppression) is putting your body on a better footing to fight the infection. Also consider that a topical estrogen cream may help reverse inflammation in the vagina as well. Good luck ladies!! There is hope!!

Thank you so much for this information! I have been struggling with this for almost 3 yers and it has just gotten progressivly worse. I feel so bad for the young girls on here who are having the same issues. I am 30 and I can't imagine having to deal with this pain and uncertainty 10 years ago when I was still aftraid to even have sex. You are all very brave. I am going to go out today and look for the probiotics you mentioned. Have you had any success at all? My doctor put me anti inflammatory meds usually used for arthritis and the next step he said is this colposcopy. I just want to be over this....is there any light at the end of the tunnel?

I am 24 and have had some of the same problems that have been mentioned already. For the past year or two I have had an inflammed cervix and problems with bleeding after sex. My paps always come back normal and my Dr. isn't very forthcoming with answers. She just tells me to be careful, but doesn't offer any solutions or followup appointments. I thought that it was just me and that something was seriously wrong, but now I see that it is more common than I originally thought. Thanks for all of the advice.

I was told I have a inflammed cervix and been the same last 3-4 years with no changes in my pap test .I was scheduled for biopsy but the Dr.decided to cancel. Well now I have abnormal bleeding and dischage . I went to a urgent care and just got told I have "break through" bleeding .which made no sense. I still continue to get symtoms with back pain . I am concerned and tired of feeling jerked around . Want to get to the bottom of this

I am 36 yrs old and have had a radical hyst and had my ovaries removed a yr later. I have no cervix only my vagina & when I went for my yearly check my dr told me I have inflamed tissue in my vagina close to where my cervix would normally be & I'm worried that I have more cancer! What would cause the inflamed tissue?
