Since my total knee replacement I have gone from about 6 inner thigh cramps a year in the last three years to ZERO since the surgery over a year ago. And I am more active than before the surgery! I need to discuss that mechanism with the surgeon.

I suffer the same excruciating thigh tightening pain myself. It's made me cry a number of times when my thigh tightened up so tight, I thought it would cause the bone to break. It is iintensely painful. It felt like something was wringing my muscle I also quit kickboxing exercising because I thought that was the cause of the pain. But I'm still getting them. The Drs put me on magnesium pills to see if that would help alleviate the cramps. It worked for a short while, but I'm still getting them. I've recently tried pickle juice, and it has worked. But it feels like the cramps are just waiting to pounce if I move in any way. I'm sorry for all who suffer from this painful affliction, because I know what it feels like. I pray that someone out there figured this thing out.

I have suffered from these cramps and have been on the brink of passing out from the pain. I don't know how it works but I promise you pickle juice does work. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work but the pickle juice. just saying...

These cramps are NO JOKE!! I too am glad that there are others who understand just how excruciating and debilitating these inner thigh cramps can be!l The muscle is called the abductor muscles. I experienced this violent act in both inner thighs after a 16 hour flight to S. Africa. I awoke in a foreign land literally about to black out!! I've had these cramps off and on for years have found that pickle juice or banana pepper juice, help tremendously. I am now able to bare the pain mentally by telling myself to slow my breathing and that I will not pass out. I also pray while I'm walking. I try to stand straight to stretch the muscle but only after I've drunk the pickle or pepper juice followed by lots of water. The key is not to allow the pain to catch you off guard. Hyperventilating is natural at first because of the shock but mind over matter has allowed me to understand what is going on and that it does not have to last. Prayer is key and so is knowledge of understanding our bodies!

I have suffered with inner groin and thigh cramps for years and found that the only thing that releases the muscles within 5-7 minutes is French's yellow mustard. I have my own bottle in the refrigerator with my name on it and it really, really works. My cramps are so bad (usually both legs at the same time), that I can not stand up straight and I sweat along with getting nauseous. My husband runs for the mustard and I down about 2 tablespoons and within 5-7 minutes the cramps are gone. I don't know why it works but it does.

after years of suffering from inner thigh cramps, to a point of screaming out loud in agony, the one thing i found recently is australian dream. after applying it within 5-10 minutes its gone. which is amazing normally i would get the cramp to calm down and if i started walking the cramp would always come back as bad as the first one

Yes, my cure is Electrolyte Effervescent Tablets.
3-4 tablets in warm water (breaks tablets down quicker for relief)
You should feel your muscles starting to relax pretty quickly.
If you have a very busy day drink this and you won't experience night cramps. Good luck

I have been having these *horrible* inner thigh cramps for about 3 years, very intermiitently. Nothing seems to work. The first time i came close to passing out with vasovagal response, but since then I know I need to lie down to avoid that (may be I should pass out to avoid the pain!).
The reason I am writing this comment is: for the remedies mentioned (for after a spasm has started.. like pickle juice, mustard, electrolyte tablet), people mention that they work in 5-7 minutes.. But wouldn't that be just normal duration of the pain? For me, none has lasted more than 10 (excruciating) minutes. Are we sure the remedy is working?
Secondly, we seem to be a miniscule minority that the doctors don't pay much attention to. I have gotten generic cramp advice and nothing more. I hope some doctor or medical researcher gets it (sorry for being callous!), researches the issue, and THEN finds us on this thread and tells us about it.

Thank you my friend. Your self diagnoses seems to be spot on to an episode I just had in both legs. I think hydration is key! I also got myself into a hot shower and it did seem to work some for relief. May God Bless you all.

all of you are dehydrated you need to get your self electrolyte water and drink at least 4 bottles a day these are not cramps-cramps hurt but this is horrific out right pain that is unbearable and you have to stretch your legs right before bed time also just do it. it is not worth the pain-plain water wont work you will deplete yourself of nutrients

I too suffer from the debilitating inner thigh cramps… it’s a 100 on a 1-10 scale…and happens after I lay down… I’ve just read I am guilty of lack of proper exercise, poor hydration and haphazard vitamin/mineral intake. I do watch my magnesium intake though. I will try pickle juice as recommended here by another response. I get relief in approximately 3 mins using Hylands muscle cramps pills - the sublingual quick acting… it’s very frightening and the pain is knife like to the point of tears… I am now going to change my lifestyle quick…Jack

I have found that if I keep hydrated with electrolytes, the muscle cramps stay away. I normally drink two 32 oz.. bottles of water a day, sometimes 3. And in each one I drop in 2 Nuun tablets (not the ones with caffeine in them).
I hadn't had them in awhile so I thought I'd try cutting the quantity of nuuns I take in half, using only 1 per 32 oz. Bottle. And they came back. So now I'm back to the 2 Nuuns per 32 oz..
I've also found that, as excruciating as it is to do so, if I try to use the muscle rather than just stretch it out, that helps it subside faster. It's really difficult to do this with the inner thigh cramps though.
