Thanks for the info and the stories, ladies... Its been 23days after my procedure and Im still bleeding. From the day of the abortion, my bleeding was heavy and lessened for the next 7days. Then the bleeding became inconsistent; very light... then heavy gushes... the dark brown bleeding heavy... or dark brown bleeding lite... the variation of blood colors is what concerns me the most. Im definitely scheduling my followup appt ASAP. U LADIES REALLY MADE ME FEEL LESS ALONE THOUGH. THANK YOU AND BLESS YOU ALL!!!!

(it is not a RISKY thing to do at only 14 weeks its Risky after 20 weeks your body had no problem going back to normal i had an abortion at 15 weeks they said there was no risks of any kind no fertility risks or anything. only the normal infection risk that everyone has when they get an abortion.)

I had an abortion done in November. From then to now (3 months, 2 weeks) I am still bleeding. I went back to the doctor on numerous occasions and I was given pills and shots but to no avail. Sometimes the bleeding is very heavy and other times very light. I stopped taking the last set of pills last Wednesday. I thought it had finally stopped but this morning it began again. I also have sharp pains in my abdomen on the right and left side. I remember when I had the scan done the doctor said I had a cyst. Is that the reason why the bleeding hasn't stopped? Will I have to continue taking birth control pills? The doctor said he has never seen a case like this before and he is baffled. He said everything should already be out of me and the mouth of my womb should have closed already. They told me the hormones in birth control should stop the bleeding. I've tried both and none of them work. The pills were better because it was very light but now its back to square one. I am soooooo worried!!! I don't understand why it hasn't stopped yet and does that mean something is wrong with me?? He said I can't have a DNC done because I don't have any kids yet. Is there someone else I can go to for this? Or something else I can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you mean you had an abortion on Feb 2nd of this year, and then bled until the 15th of February.. stopped bleeding until the 21st of february and are still bleeding now?
From what I understand, you can bleed for weeks and weeks after an abortion and it can come and go. Did you go for your check-up after the abortion? If you havent, I would suggest you go for the check up. Try not to worry. If you did go for the check up and are just worried about the bleeding, call the clinic where you had the abortion performed and I am sure they would be more than willing to answer any questions you may have. Try not to worry and make sure you go for the follow-up appointment if you havent already.
I had an abortion on March 3rd of this year, and my bleeding has gotten worse instead of better. I passed several large clots a bit ago and was trying to find information on whether or not this was "normal' and came across this forum. My bleeding color has me a little concerned too as it is a very dark (almost maroon/purple-ish color). I could actually feel the clots in there and knew I was getting ready to pass either a huge one or a lot of them at once!! (too much info I know.. sorry!) It had me really freaked out though! I plan on calling the clinic tomorrow and speaking to them about this but was looking to see if I could find any info until I can call them.
If anyone reading this is concerned about what is happening to them after an abortion.. please just call the clinic instead of worrying for weeks. They have to answer your questions. Good luck girls!

I had an abortion on april 6th. I had the expected bleeding afterwards. So I didn't do a follow up with the health department. After a few weeks or so the bleeding stopped, but I've now been bleeding for two weeks and it hasn't showed signs of letting up. It feels like a normal period, but I'm just worried because it's been two weeks and it hasn't stopped. I was put on the shot after I had the abortion. I don't know if that's why I am just continuously bleeding?

Not going to explain myself as this is for girls who are panicking out there. I never usually come on these sites but it helped me see I was not alone and that other people were also having a non clear cut experience so I want to share my support too. I am not responding to any questions specifically, I just wanted to share my story because it was so hard but now it is over! I made this decision recently and was completely alone in the decision and the suffering through it because of my individual circumstances, it was a situation I never thought I would experience and I had used protection and it is a big deal, or it was for me - I did the medical - it went normally as predicted, hurt like HELL but passed for the actual procedure and then bleeding stopped - about 3 weeks later it started with clots and that was explainable by the fact that some tissue had been left inside, but the bleeding just would not stop for weeks and I had some pain. I insisted on seeing my gynae again (I had gone for follow up so knew it was over but tissue still needed to pass) and was petrified I had ruined my fertility, she gave me a second dose of anti biotics - (I had had them for the abortion too and std tests which came back clear) so the infection may have been from the tissue having been stuck there for a few weeks but it must have been an infection because the anti biotics stopped the bleeding and cleared the pain. It is awful going through the actual procedure pain wise but it passes and if it does not go as you are told it will - ie over in a few days, it is the scariest ting ever and the shame and loathing and guilt are awful but it passes so just go back to a doctor if you need to rather than worry and the experience will eventually be in the past if you choose to or have no choice in doing this. I had an abortion on Jan. 10th. I was bleeding for two weeks. I stopped bleeding. Then on jan. 4th i went into the hospital for really severe sharp pains in my lower stomach. They told me i had a ruptured cyst. Then Feb. 6th i started bleeding again my doctor said it was my period. It is feb. 28th and im still bleeding, my bleeding is constantly changing. It will be really heavy and then really light and ill think that the bleeding is going to stop but then it gets heavy again and i will have cramps again. My doctor gave me birth control to stop the bleeding. I have been taking it now for two weeks and i haven't stopped bleeding. Is this normal?
