I have been tested for STDs about a year ago and came out clean. My girlfriend (the only girl I've been with since being tested in any way) has just recently gotten Gardnella Vaginalis. Is it possible that I gave that to her? Also, is it possible that she got it some other way, and that I may be effected by it? Please let me know ASAP.

Thanks.

It is not considered an STD although it could be transmitted usually from males to females and it happens with a new partner or multiple partners.

You probably don't have it because the infection predominantly occurs in women. Men rarely develop infections with G vaginalis.

Predisposing factors to developing the infection are: recent antibiotic use, decreased estrogen production of the host, wearing an intrauterine device (IUD) and douching.
