Same. Every time I try to drink green tea I find that within a couple of hours I've got that "hint" of a headache but it doesn't go full-blown migraine. I suffer from migraines and really watch out for triggers. Last year, while doing a cleansing diet, I discovered a big culprit to those migraines was gluten.

So weird that there's a page with so many peeps with my issue!

Stopped coffee, decided to get decaf green tea. Wondered why I had headaches so often and just realised after a cup of tea that I suddenly have a headache I didn't have before the tea.

Gonna try again in the morning and see if it brings in a headache, if it does then no more green tea for me

I, too, get headaches while drinking green tea. Don't think it has time to get in and detoxify that quickly. I am a coffee drinker so don't think it would be caffeine level because I don't get jittery like with coffee. So, I was wondering if it could trigger a sort of allergic reaction. It especially happens with green tea that I get from restaurants and coffee shops. Hmm. Interesting. Would love to hear a logical theory since I am not prone to headaches.

Yes it can cause nausea and vomiting..too much caffeine is a cause and also depends on persons metabolism of the caffeine. Headaches may occur due to the rise in blood pressure & surely adds to the effect if a person is prone to migraines & on that note, other various medications may also cause vessels to constrict. If a person is not drinking plenty of water dehydration may occur causing more headaches & in addition; frequent urination with loss of potassium. Most tea is a blood thinner so taking aspirin or things like warfarin (coumadin) may not be advisable to drink too much tea. Everyone is different, different food intakes, medications, metabolics , Chronic/Acute diseases & age. Wow all for green tea.
Hope that helped

I too get headaches from green tea--especially matcha. It is due to its high anti-oxcident levels.
It detoxes the body but some people have trouble detoxing due to sluggish liver/kidney function and it can't process so many toxins at once. So they end up recirculating back through your body giving you headaches and fatigue. It's called the herkimer effect. Commomly known as "herxing". I noticed that people who are sensitive to caffeine, have more trouble with herxing. Those who can drink a cup of coffee and go to sleep, have a greater liver function and don't herx.
