is it bad to run in boxers?
lol, no. i only wear boxers and no problems for me!
I trained and ran my first/only half marathon in cotton boxers. There was a little chaffing, but it wasn't too bad.
Running shorts with a built-in liner are nicer though.

I always thought that would lead to....um.....collisions, like two pendulums swinging in opposite directions.

Not necessarily. Some folks go commando.
I don't think I could do it. A little too much

no bruising of the goods here either. it helps to be a smooth runner though, if you have a lot of vertical in your stride it might cause some issues. :umno:

Well, if you're ONLY in boxers - and nothing else - then it's only bad if you mind saying "Hello" to everyone you encounter on the street. (And remember, it's not polite to point...)
If they're stuffed under your running shorts then I think you may need some wardrobe help. :o

ha, i used to run in boxers, and have just recently changed to boxer briefs
i am really enjoying the change over, i feel more "secure" and i would highly recommend them if not running tight things, (never tried em but they look cool). so, its boxer briefs for me all the way.

Since the low-rise, high- inseam running shorts are discontinued, I go around in nice looking boxers.
That is around the yard
As a 66-year-old man that stays physically fit, I can tell you that I can't go running in just boxershorts. My testicles tend to hang quite low, making this type of activity uncomfortable to say the least. Even while working out, mowing the lawn, climbing a ladder, etc., I wear a standard issue jockstrap. I suggest that for physical activity you purchase and wear a standard men's athletic supporter. That's why they are made, to be worn by men.
