My podiatrist said it's porokeratosis, and I had surgery on the ball of my foot to remove it. this is the second time the problem has occured. the first podiatrist was said to have left the core in my foot, which required a second surgical procedure. I can't seem to find an answer as to why, what, and how I have this problem and will it happen again!!! still searching...................

My husband asked our dermatologist about a white bump on the ball of his foot. The DR said it is porokeratosis, he skimmed the top layer off and said it would need to be redone each time it comes back. He can either come back to the dermatologist or have it removed the same way by a podiatrist.

Porokeratosis is a condition which is mechanically induced. That being said, the only treatment is to continually get it removed once it becomes painful, or surgical alteration of the foot. Look also at corns/callouses for more related info.
