I have tried many different brands of birth control and found that eventually my body would get used to it and my acne would start up again. I did some research and it may be the hormones in birth control, but it could also be hormones in dairy products, eating too much sugar and starch (which is converted into sugar in the body) and a lack of physical activity. Losing weight helped me with my acne and I got more fit too. When I was thin I never got acne, not even as a teen.

I had acne as a teenager, but nothing like I have since starting the NuvaRing. I've been using the NuvaRing for three months and started getting lesion-like acne almost immediately. I have at least 4 large, swollen and nasty cystic spots on my back right now, and I've gotten other ones on my neck, chest and face. I am afraid that these are going scar and have scheduled a follow up appointment with my doctor. I love the relative freedom of the NuvaRing, but I don't know if it's worth this acne. I'm 27 and my acne had finally gone away! It wouldn't be a big deal if the acne wasn't so large and painful.

My friend convinced me to try the Nuvaring since the pill made me sick. I tried the Nuvaring and started to break out with cystic acne. I stopped using it after that month. Several months later I got into a relationship and decided to use the Nuvaring again, since I still had my free prescription, and my face is so clear now! The first time I used the nuvaring I popped it in during the middle of the month. The second time trying the nuvaring I used it the exact day I got off my period. I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not.

I am on my second NuvaRing and I have broken out on my forehead, neck and jaw line with acne that I haven't seen since I was a young teenage girl (I am now 34). I had been using the Mirena IUD for 5 years and LOVED it! Had no problem with acne at all and then I switched to the Paragard to see what it would be like not to have hormones---worse decision of my life...I had extreme bleeding for a year and continuous BVs. It caused chronic inflammation of my uterus and finally I had it removed in February. I wanted to let my body heal and so I decided to try the NuvaRing, for a few months until I get a new Mirena.

The first NuvaRing I used (back at the end of Feb) caused the same outrageous break out. The week that it was not in my body, my skin cleared up and went back to normal. Well, I just put the new one in last Thursday and BAM--major acne on my neck, jaw line and for head...I can ONLY assume it is the NuvaRing.

I think I will be taking this out and just going back to my Mirena. I cannot stand all the acne!

So happy to have found you all! I've been on the ring for almost four year upon which I've developed cystic acne that I never had before! It wasn't until this past year when my sex drive basically dropped to nothing did I tart looking into the Nuva ring. I'm stopping it immediately and tryin any other non hormonal method I can. Hoping it works. Thanks for sharing ladies!

I had HORRIBLE break outs for the first month that I was on nuvaring. I know the ring was the cause because although I have suffered from mild acne since I got my first period, this were big bumps with no heads that were extremely painful. Also, they lasted for about 3-4 days and disappear as randomly as they appeared. I also got bumps in my back ( which has never happened) and some have left a scar. Now when I took the ring off for the first time I had the worst symptoms. When I put the second ring in, a week after, my acne began to go away. I feel so much better and less tired. I hve not ha any breakout and hopefully I won't.

I experienced this problem months after I started using it, then I was switched to loloestrin and it make the problem so incredibly awful. I was switched again to a generic of loestrin (not loloestrin) and I've noticed a week before the pills run out I'm having the problem. I completely blame nuvaring and do not recommend it to anyone!

I started using NuvaRing about a week ago. I've used just about everything out there. I had the Skyla which unfortunately came out so my doc called the NuvaRing in. the morning after I inserted it, BOOM three huge pimples. It cannot be coincidence. I'm 25 and do not normally have breakouts.

I'm mad because I had great skin before Nuva ring and then I started getting pains in my legs so I took it out. Pain in legs went away but now I have awful under chin and neck acne. I have never gotten this before and I think it's cause my hormones are trying to regulate. I took it out in May this year and still bad pimples. Hopefully next year my face will be normal again. Best of luck ladies

Since I switched to Ortho Lo birth control pills a few years back, I have terrible spots on my face. I am curious if anyone else has had this problem and noticed a difference with the Nuva Ring?
