I read this horrible article on a news website that I visit sometimes, and a little girl had died - the police suspected from maltreatment and long term abuse, but they were not sure yet, and were waiting for autopsy results. A quote from one of the inspectors said that deaths happen from maltreatment sometimes, and that this is something that is on the increase. Is this really true?
I am very said to say that child abuse is something that happens much more often than most people think. The nature of child abuse is hidden, and in many cases the parents or family members who are physically abusing children are very careful not to leave visible marks that would alarm the outside world to the abuse. Abuse is a nasty cycle, that often gets worse with time and spirals out of control. I am sorry to say that I think deaths happen sometimes, although it is something that is really horrible to even think about. Those poor, poor babies!
Bad things happen all around us, every day and every hour. Of course kids die from beatings, or whatever it is that parents do to them. Sadly, this is all too often only discovered when it is already to late. As a society, I believe that we should be doing an awful lot more to work on prevention of these cases.
