I've been suffering from anxiety attacks/ panic disorders since I was 17 (I'm 38 now), before they even knew what it was. When I first started getting them I felt like I was going to die for the first 6 months before they actually diagnosed what the heck was wrong with me. Anyway. I used to take Xanax and only as needed. I'm afraid of taking really anything. But then I discovered Klonopin and it blows Xanax out of the water. My panic attacks come in waves, and although I can now control most of them, sometimes I cannot and a half of a .25 mg is all it takes for me to level out and take the edge off. I've never been addicted to them. I just use them on an as need basis. I'll take a while .25 mg when I fly or go to the dentist. I'm 190 lbs and it works for me. Maybe I'm not as effed up as most, but mostly I have them as a security blanket. Always keep a few in my car and in my house. Listen, anxiety sucks, it's one of the worst feelings in the world and after 20 years suffering from them they can be controlled to an extent, otherwise Klonopin is my choice. By the way, I have an addictive personality but was never addicted to either Xanax or Klonopin. Good luck to you all. Oh and by the way, Buspar is junk. It may take away your anxiety, but it'll also give you thoughts of suicide and dry mouth. Not my thing. I know there are tons of people out there that suffer from panic attacks and keep on keeping on. They don't go away but they can be controlled. Good luck.

I saw smoke up!  It helps my depression.  Expensive, but helpful.

Half life is the amount of time it takes your body to break down and remove half of the medication you have in your system

I take both Ativan and Klonopin (minimum dosage available). Klonopin gets me drowsy and allows me to get to sleep.  AtIvan keeps me dead asleep through the night, and I'm able to wake up when the alarm goes off.  If I have any advise at all, all bodies are different and can react different to different drugs.  You know your body better than a psychiatrist who sees you only to write scripts.  Some drugs you can use your own judgement, and you can on both of these.  Always carry Klonopin with you.  You can take it without water by letting it dissolve under your tongue.  I works for me.  Check your dosage, if you feel groggy in the morning, you either took it to late at night, or you're taking too much.

Do not apply this to antidepressants.  I was hospitalized twice for attempting suicide, after messing around with, or completing stopping my meds.
