Is my tongue piercing infected?

I just got my tongue pierced and it is 100% normal. Mine did the same on the top and bottom ball. And I smoked. And ate spicy foods. And all the stuff basically you're not supposed to do because I didn't realize at first what all there was that you weren't supposed to do lol the most important thing is to clean it after every time you eat, drink (besides water), smoke, etc. But don't kiss anyone or exchange any bodily fluids, because you dont know how clean their mouth is and it could get infected. I researched for 2 days after I got mine and started seeing the same thing. Even asked my aunt who is a nurse. If its whitish light yellow colored it is a scab. Unless you can wipe it off easily, like you would with puss, it is a scab. I messed with mine with a q-tip, came off and was bleeding. Obviously a scab. You're fine, don't let these people tell you you're not. It's mind over matter. You think you're gonna get sick? Even if you're not, you will. How your brain works. So take care of it, rinse twice a day with salt water after breakfast and lunch, and with non-alcoholic mouthwash after dinner or before bed, don't touch it with your hands, take plenty of anti-inflammatory medicine such as ibuprofen (I recommend 3 200mg pills 2-3 times a day), and make sure to work your tongue. Keep the muscle moving. I know you have a lisp the first few days but don't give in to it, I've known people who have gotten stuck with it. The second day I had mine done the lisp was gone because I kept talking and enunciating things. Sorry for writing a book lol just enjoy your new piece of body art and take good care of it(:

I got my tongue pierced Last january,and it's been over a year,it's starting to hurt a lil.. N my throght is hurting a lil N i was wondering of it's cuz of y tongue????!.

Its Normal Your Just In The Healing Process . Just Keep Washing Your Mouth

The lady who pierced my tongue who has been doing it for a long time warned me ahead of time my tongue would turn a funny white/yellowish color on the surface simply because when you eat regular food, it "cleans" the surface of your tongue allowing it to stay the normal color, but because after you get your tongue pierced you are on a soft foods diet, your tongue doesnt get the normal "cleaning" and ends up with a white/yellowish color on the surface...nothing to worry about, will go away after you return to a normal eating habit.

Hey! :) was wondering if anyone could help me!? im so worried about my tongue piercing! I had it first done 9 days ago now. Everything was going really well and as the swelling had gone down alot, i changed my long bar to a 16mm bar on day 7 as it was becoming dangerous with my long bar in as i kept biting it! hehe anyway since changing it, my tongue as swelled up again (not as much as before though) and i have a real stinging/sore pain under my tongue! on top everything is fine, but i am very worried about the pain and redness under my tongue. Could this simple be my tongue get used to the smaller bar or is it something more serious!? I did wonder if it was because it was a surgical steel bar and i was allergic to it, however i have surgical steel in other picerings, so i guess it isnt that? Any help or reasurance would be great! Thank youuu :) 

It's normal for it to do that I just got mine done last Wensday and it's doing the same if it does that just back off the mouthwash or salt water but still use it. Just use it less

I just got mine done a few days ago and my piercer told me 2 weeks and I can change it.

I got my tongue pierced on November 30th, i changed my bar on December 2nd & it was fine. My tongue ring didn't swell one bit tho. It was great i was eating wings and steak the 2 & 4)3rd days o me getting it. Plus the night of me getting it i drank & got sh*t faced, i also smoke cigarettes, kissed my bf & did oral & MY TONGUE RING IS FINEE! no infections or anything but everyone diff. Good luckkkk. Oh and btw i cant even feel the short bars in, kinda like the longer one better but thats me well luck to too.

So I got mine on Friday, and I've been using the alcohol-free mouth wash, and I bought this Saline Solution (my piercer recommended it, since its pretty much like diluted salt-water).

Anyway, yesterday (day2) I noticed a small little bump on the bottom (well, on top of my tongue, but the part that's closest to the tip of my tongue) of my tongue bar, I figured maybe it's because I had a warm dinner the night before and my "wound" just reacted to it, but it's bigger today and it is a whitish yellow colour, it's probably 2 millimetres in length now TT^TT, and I've been lightly brushing my tongue as well (cause I'm paranoid and I really didn't want this to be an infection!!!), just to make sure.

After I've read all the comments I feel SO much better!!! But I was wondering if continuing to lightly brush my tongue is bad for the healing process and should I get the pills to help with inflammation (I wasn't sure if taking them would really help)? 

I got same thing i got it pierced friday today is only sunday but i had it pierced twice and first time it wasnt like this first time it looked normal but now it looks like my tonhue has been bruised and in morning when i wake upmit looks like its been bleeding and now its hot like a blood lump right near the piearcing at the top , what should i do ?

i had mine done last Thursday and the top is still sore, its not as bad as it was when i first got it done. there is a yellow ish colour right near the top ball. and my throte is swollen a little. is mine infected?x

i got my tongue pierced on friday and it's monday. the swelling hasn't gone down at all and it's bruised. is it infected?

i had my tongue pierced for a few months now. mine was swollen for a little over a week and mine was bruised. it will go away. trust me, its completely normal!

nope. The yellow ring is going to be there,and your throat is going to hurt. do salt water 3 times a day!
