I had mine pierced about a week and a half ago. I also got a little bump in front of the piercing after a couple days. It looked sort of like a tiny blood blister like several other posts said. It started red and then got really dark, and then started to turn yellowish white over several days. I asked my piercer about it, and he said it's sort of like your tongue's version of scabbing, and that it would either go away or dry up and fall off in a couple days. Sure enough, the next day, it had sort of hardened and ended up falling off. No bumps after that. Just like you shouldn't pick scabs though, I would definitely not recommend cutting it off or messing with it in any way. If it doesn't go away after several days, it might be something else and you should get it looked at. As far as white and yellow stuff oozing out of the piercing, that seems to be pretty common for these piercings. My piercer told me it would happen and said it's just lymph material or something left over from the healing process. All that said, your mouth is really good at fighting infection, so it's pretty unlikely that it is infected. Tongue piercings do a lot of weird things as they heal, being in your mouth they can't scab the same way. My advice would be wait several more days, but if whatever problem doesn't go away or gets a lot worse, get it checked out.

The reason why your tongue is yellow/white or on the taste buds as you say is because of the excessive use of mouthwash, depending on what color mouthwash you use depends on what color it can and will stain your tongue.

You can help this by gently scrubbing your tongue with toothpaste and your toothbrush just be careful not to hit or irritate your tongue ring.

As for the yellow/white puss, it's not puss it's dead blood cells and blood plasma that's pushing it's way out as a means of cleaning itself as well as healing.

Sometimes around the piercing will go white and you'll get spots and stuff, it's just healing, its nothing to worry about, if its still like that after a few weeks then go to the doctors or back to the piercer. Just keep gargling diluted mouthwash or salt water and it should heal up perfectly.

ive had it done about 2 and a half years, and the last few months ive noticed a lump growin at the bottom of my tounge from where its pierced!

it got bigger so i went to the doctor but he insisted it was just trying to heal

since, its now starting to grow from the top!

if its not infected, i dont want to take it out, especially as he said it might not get any better, but i dont want to just leave the lumps there!

ive had my piercing for 2 days. i havent been able to eat since. its swallon and fat. and it bleeds.

all my friends are telling me that its infected, and this is not supposed to happen, and that i should take it out?

it seems like alot of people with tongue piercings experience this, but im not sure. im scared. i just want it to get back to normal.

what should i do?! and is it normal or not?!

and how do i stop the bleeding?

AND, whats the proper way to clean it?

It is all normal, you have only had it pierced for 2 days! of course it it swollen and bleeding, take it easy! Don't listen to your friends. Having a tongue piercing makes you have trouble eating, so just eat soft foods. To help with the swollenness, eat lots of ice and drink cold water. The proper way to clean your tongue is to use a alcohol free mouthwash diluted with water, AND use a saline solution. Never use just the saline solution alone. AND i would recommend you wait the 6 weeks your piercer told you, it's better to wait longer than take it out too early. Wait even longer than that if you want, there isn't really a need to change the bar that fast, some people even like having a longer bar in, but piercers just put that in to accommodate the swelling. After the 6 weeks is over or when you are ABSOLUTELY sure it has stopped swelling and has healed right, you can change the bar :)
