Hello,
I started taking Norvasc 2 years ago and at first I had problems with dizziness, especially when I get up from sitting position. After this, about month in on Norvasc I started developing swelling in my ankles and and that point my doctor told me to get the half the dose I used to.
That helped with the swelling, but now, two years later, I’ve developed a strange reddish rash that does not itch, but is very noticeable both on my legs and arms. If anyone could help me before I get to my next doctor’s appointment - is rash common side effect of long term use of Norvasc or generic amlodipine?
Hello Paul,
it is possible that over the two years you've been on Norvasc it started to cause less common - but still known side effects such as rash. What I'd suggest you to do is, of course, to talk to your doctor about the chances for Norvasc to cause rash you're experiencing, but the rash itself could be completely unrelated to Norvasc.
Some allergic or reaction rashes don't itch and look like small reddish spots with or without blisters, and are usually successfully treated with topical steroid cream.
