My story goes like this, My course was due last week. On Thursday of last week I spotted, not even the whole day. I took a UPT on Monday and it was negative. My cycle was like clock work, I am taking BCP and have been for 10 yrs. I did recently change my pills. I have been nauseous daily since Thursday and have had headaches. No other "pregnancy" symptoms. Should I take another UPT and if so how long should I wait. Or should I call my GYN?
it could be late because you switched your pills. the switching of diffrent hormones or amounts of hormones can cause you period to be abnormal. just give it a few days, and if it doesn't return try taking another test. if that one is still neg, try calling you gyn, and see what he or she thinks.
Oh I didn't mention, I switched pills 3 months ago.
i still recommend waiting a few days to take another test. and if it's negative call your doc. your gyno can do more accurate tests to see if you are pregnant. good luck.
It can also be the brand or type of pills you are now on. Since the pill is so effective it is unlikely that you are pregnant but stranger things have happened. And nothing is a 100%- however, a hpt will show once you "miss" your period if you are indeed pregnant. I have a feeling that this most likely will be explained by the new pill....some of them can cause your cycle to be almost nonexistant since the do stop ovulation and all you are shedding is a very light "bulid up' of your uterus....if it happens at all. Like she says, take another test, and if its negative you can call your doctor if you wish but I am pretty sure he won't have much of an answer for you except its the pills. 3 months is usually about the average time for them to start reducing the cycle (for the ones that do "reduce" the cycle) Unless, you have missed 2 or more pills-if thats the case than pregnancy is much more likely (depending on when you missed them and if you had intercourse can tell when a hpt would show positive) Good luck
