Is using adderall the same as using meth?

I was on vyvanse for a couple months. This was years ago. I also smoked/abused cannabis herb. All I can say to anyone with concerns about their child or loved one abusing prescriptions given to them is this. Everyones mind works differently. I have ADHD which in general means im more likely to become addicted and depend on substances. I personally wish I had never felt the effects of Vyvanse because I liked how it made me "feel" too much. Probly cuz I self medicated marijuana for depression already and this was on the daily. If you take the prescription as prescribed by your doctor and with no other substances in a routined regimine at correct doses. It will do what it's meant to do which is help concentrate. For weeks I was fine on Vyvanse. I could focus on one thing for hours and feel happy to do it. Even if that something was boring in my mind I was doing something "more" yes my opinion is biased because I was a pothead before I was prescribed this medication. But I know that if all you are taking is what is prescribed and only to help you "CONCENTRATE" not to feel good...yes you feel better and all that but you need to have a good baseline happiness and overall emotional balance to regularly take any drug. I'd reserve medications such as these for college use only personally. But back to my experiences...I started doing xanax and just branching out my drug uses which I'm not blaming the vyvanse necessarily...in fact I probly would have abused other things more if it weren't for it. Expect for weed and drinking. This is my next point. Your metabolism is increased on vyvanse as well as certain cognitive mental functions which correlates to being able to smoke and drink more without feeling as "messed up" I remember smoking with friends who weren't on any other prescribed medications (as far as I know) that got so "stupid" high while I'm sitting there still really focused, energetic, and just feeling good and oh yeah EUPHORIC. As far as drinking same principle applies. Because of my higher alertness I could drink way more than my friends while still being able to function. So I guess the jist of my story is if your going to or know anyone going to be taking prescription stimulants. Consider all other outside factors before judging the pill itself. If you don't abuse other things or it then the desired results will be achieved. As far as how I was when I stopped taking the vyvanse? That I'd say to each their own because again I smoked alot of pot so my mental status after stopping the prescription would be biased. I will say I noticed more how bad my concentration was but I think that's alot just in my head cuz I knew what it felt like to be running my brain at a higher speed for the few months I took it. If I end up going back to school I'd definitely almost "depend"on it to get me through it in one piece successfully. But then again I've developed an addictive personality which line I said TO EACH THEIR OWN. Best advice I can give you.

Your all wrong about street meth and adderall and wrong about the ratio of vyvanse compared to adderal

! 20 mg adderall is 1% streetmeth you would have to take alot. I know that ratio from a letit sight.

70 mg vyvanse is equal to 35 mg of timed release adderall. you have to compare  vyvanse to time release adderall because vyvanse is time release. time release is a capsule which goes into your bloodstream a little at a time untill itis all gone 50 mgs of vyvanse is the same as 70 mgs of vyvanse because it is timed released into your body, which means the 70 would just last longer that the 50 say 2 hr difference neither one is stronger they both release the same amount they are equally strong the 70 mg has more in the capsule which means there is more it last longer.

The fda does not exceed 70 mgs of IR adderall a day however I know people who are prescribed 100 mgs of adderall in the morning and it last till about 6 at night.

vyvanse is much safer for people because of the fact that it does not turn into dextroamphetamines till after it passes through the liver which makes vyvanse much safer I was prescribe 70 mg vyvanse 2 times a day that is equal to the fda recomendation of adderll 70 mgs

Adderall is not like meth. I've tried meth once and walked through the house and would step into a room and just stand there for 20 mins trying to remember what i went in there for! Doing that for hours on end. That's torture. Adderall does not do that to you. Before i went on adderall i sat on the couch all day staring at the tv not really paying attention. I was bored but like i didn't have any motivation. Doing daily task like laundry and cleaning was very hard to get going on. I would put it off to the point i would be overwhelmed with what needed to be done. I would start things and never finish them. On adderall i can actually finish a do to list without doing it halfed assd. I smoke alto of pot and did xanax and i think that was me trying to fix myself with the first dose of adderall 10mg is was as if a light bulb came on and i could do what i always wanted BE PRODUCTIVE. the fact that you accomplish your tasks and are productive is what makes you feel good, not the adderall. Second my sister is ADD she was a d student and daydream all the time. Became a honor student on adderall. ( i wasn't diagnosed until this year 24yrs old because compared to my sister i wasn't bad and went un noticed) she started adderall in 2 grade and is now 26. To this day she has never done drugs not even tried pot! So i do think people that need adderall and go untreated are more likely to do drugs than people who are put on adderall.

This is crazy. Obviously Adderall and Such other products work well when taken the way prescribed for the purpose they were prescribed. But as for the effects it has on your body compared to the affects of others you will never know unless you set your @$$ down with a bag of needle's a gram of good dope and about fifty - hundred of each pill "which by the way you are forgetting about a good one Ritalin or Methylphenidate" and start banging. I personally would rather have 8 Ritalin 20s crushed up in a spoon than 1/2 gram of good anhydrous dope but that's just me I like the way the Ritalin comes on like a freight train then carry's that nice even geekless buzz for the next 8-10 hours and then you can go to bed if you want or go back up with 7-10 more. The Addy 30's are about the same just harder to work up. In the end one of the main issues deciding how each drug affects you is the way it is introduced and dose.

CAN URINE TESTS tell the difference between street speed (amphetamine) and Adderall? I have tried both but only want to reveal the latter. I have to do a urine test later today for a doctors approval to prescribe Lortab that I've been taking for several months. I have tried street speed lately because I have a hard time feeling functional and normal like I use to in my 30's and 40's. I'm 59 now and have pain problems in my back and neck and energy is very low. Is there anything else that looks like speed in urine tests like the vyvanse or anything??

I think your exactly rite, I was on any and everything I could get my hands on, thousands of times over, I tried Adderall and it simply stopped my erge for other things, it made me fill normal .you got to face it, there are people out here that just have to have something are they will spend there hole life running a high, if Adderall works, its a hell of a lot safer than all the other stuff out on the street. your son prob has a additive personality, and there is nothing in this world that will make it go away, please if he is telling you that is what helps him, LISTEN, and trust he nos what he needs, it truly helps don't lose him to hard core drugs when you have your chance to stop it now

I was diagnosed with ADD at a pretty young age, not in double digits yet. I started out with a prescription of Ritalin, what else would it be in the 90's, but the side effects were too severe for my little body. After spending 2 years trying new medicines my pediatrician recommended to my Mom that I be put on adderall, started out slow and found out 20 mg was the right amount for me. If you truly have ADD you don't feel the euphoric feeling that everyone describes, the reason for that is because the ADD/ADHD brain doesn't make the connections it does within a normal brain resulting in poor impulse control, lack of focus, lack of retention, and the inability to organize ones thoughts and verbalized those thoughts coherently. I had been taking my adderall since I was in the 6th grade, only stopping after school. Currently I am in the process of getting back on it because I started school again. I've been out of school for a decade and having a difficult time, to say the least, absorbing Chem, math and English all at once. Unless you truly have a misfiring of neurons inside your brain the amphetamine will act like it is intended too, like speed. Adderall is nothing compared to meth, granted they do have the same elements added into the substance the amount of each does in fact differ. Adderall has a chemical formula of C9H13N (carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen) where as meth C10H15N. Now this may not seem like a big difference however, it is greatly different. By just subtracting those two hydrogen molecules and the one carbon from the formula you completely alter the product creating a similar to the eye substance but a whole new substance. So to answer your question no adderall is not meth. It is speed however.
