Researchers performed a new study in which they compared the portions sizes people used to eat two decades ago and today. The study revealed that the main cause of increased obesity nowadays is in the amount of food we eat. It was found that people today eat and drink more at each meal without even being aware of it.
In comparison to the old days, youngsters today consume 20% more cornflakes and 30% more milk in their bowls, drink orange juices that are 40% or 50 calories larger, and only 25% of the meals today are the same size as the ones twenty years ago. Generally, people eat much more today and only extra orange juice could add five pounds a year not to mention what those big meals are doing it to us.
The only cutting down on calories was noticed in less dressing on their salads but that doesn’t do it. It is important that people start modifying their portions and start eating with their stomachs and not eyes.
