Look up notalgia paraesthetica I have these same symptoms only on my right side- I slways have to be different/difficult.LOL  I'm hoping my excellent derm clinician agrees Botox injection may be the best cure/relief at least temporarily. Botox works for several months so if I have to have a shot every 6 mos or so it's worth it. Its medically prescribed Not esthetically so insurance will cover most if not all of it?

I have suffered with this itch for several years and recently it became very painful. I read it is a nerve atrophy issue related most likely in my case to my age 62 and spinal degenerative disc disease, basically aging! Ain't for sissies. I'm a pretty active and fit 62 yr old. I've doing Crossfit on average 3x a week for nearly 9 yrs and proud of it. Can't imagine what issues I'd have if I was sedentary??

The chronic itch... I get it all the time. It is SO annoying! Normally I just get my husband to scratch over it and I'm in heaven~! I think it's pretty normal. Does it feel good when someone else scratches it? If it does you may need someone to get the job done.

I have had same thing for over ten years. Now the area is darker. Gone to family doctor a couple of years ago and just says there is nothing there. Went to walk in doctor yesterday and he said same thing. Frustrating.

if it is nerve related, why not try a chiropractor? A few visits may do the trick. I have the same itching, numb, tingling area on my upper back in an area that is difficult to scratch! I will try some hydrocortisone cream to see if it helps relieve it until I can get to the chiropractor. My chiropractor has helped for many numerous things that one would not think are spine related.

I have had this for years & not realized it recently went away until it came back! I had been doing an exercise the physio gave me for sore shoulders (I do long hours at the computer) & this must be what helped it. Roll up a towel, place it long ways down your upper spine & lay on it for a few minutes ( can't do it long to start with) a couple of times a day. Helped in so many ways! Back to the floor with me!!

I have this same problem. I had a back scratcher I had picked up while travling a while ago cause it was cute. (Looks like a bar paw) Now it's in my purse and I take it every where with me. Never thought I'd actually use a back scratcher as much as I do. I also thought about getting one of those lotion things from a tanning salon too. I had gotten a brush for dry brushing and that's helped alot and helps with fighting dry skin. When it's not the notalgia paresthetica problem.

I am also experiencing this very small area on my right shoulder blade. ITCH. Not all of the time but when it itches it is one of those things that you can not rest until it is scratched. I even take a wooden back scratcher on holidays for when the annoying thing decides it needs to be scratched. Once it is scratched very hard, it feels hot. Lotions sometimes relieves this sensation. I have no rash, no discoloration, no pain just the pain of trying to get it scratched enough. My husband has sharp nails and I tell him all the time keep scratching even it you get blood don't stop. He has never gotten blood! Help ANYONE...Let us know what it is.

I have a spot on my back that itched for two years and then it turned into a terrible pain that never goes away-they say its shingles but there is no rash-I started taking a 5 mg valium a day and it has got it under control and I still don't know what it is but it has to have something to do with the nerves and the dr.did not prescribe the valium-I just got it -nothing and I tried everything and this works for me-the itching will sometimes come back but not bad but the pain has never went away before the valium

I had the same itching problems in the area of my shoulder blades for almost one year. I have seen a GP but itching would not stop.
Christmas I visited a chiropractic in Germany. Gave him all the details and he proposed a daily exercise lasting about 10 minutes. After e few days itching has reduced and four weeks later gone. I am now four weeks in my exercise and it has not returned. It is a bit complicated to describe these fife exercises but I am more than happy to send you a copy.
