Yes! I had the exact same experience as you and I was at my wits end... Finally went to a new doctor yesterday (found out my old one was fired) and she said that it was my IUD causing it. She took it out and my symptoms have disappeared. That thing is not worth it.

I had the Mirena for a month. Immediately noticed problems: itching, dryness, painful sex. Vaginal PH completely messed up. It was a disaster. Just had it removed and feel better already. Doctor never warned me of these potential side effects, and seemed surprised when I told her what was going on. Thankful for online message boards because I realized I am far from alone.

Guys, there are non-hormonal IUDs that don't cause these problems. If you really like the idea of the IUD but Mirena didn't work, it isn't the end of the road; you don't necessarily have to go back to pills.

Also, this is why it's so important to research things like this beforehand. I decided to get Paragard instead of Mirena because of everything all of you are experiencing. /This information is all out there./ Some of it is even on the manufacturer's website.

Never just leave it to your doctor to tell you side effects. Be proactive and look them up.

I really wish that I had done some research and seen this thread before I got the IUD. I've had it for 14 months, 14 months that have almost ruined my relationship and most of my self esteem. I've had BV at least once a month for the past 14 months. The Dr always treated me with Metro gel, which would help for two weeks then the B.V would return. More often then not it would be my fiance that noticed the odor, extremely embarrassing and disgusting. I have seen 4 Dr's trying to get rid of the BV, all 4 told me to remove the IUD, so I did. I am now waiting for things to balance themselves back out. I regret ever choosing the IUD.

The issue is the bacteria being off. Get probiotics for vaginal health.. It's a once daily pill, when your bacteria is back in balance this will be history! Why don't doctors know this??? And share it with us?

YES THEY DO!!! JUST WAIT SISTER!!! JUST WAIT!!! I had a copper IUD that has been nothing but a headache!. 1 1/2 years of yeast infections, bv, and uti's. no sex life. ALL caused by the copper iud. As soon as it was removed, everything stopped!!! I had gone to over 6 doctors and finally found a specialist who would help. He immediately said lets take it out. That is your problem. He's a Urology/Gyno. Within one week, everything cleared up. AMAZING!!! First period after was 3 days long with mild cramping.

I didnt have side effects for a year...... then they started.

There is a lawsuit out there that I have joined due to all of the side effects. (joint pain, fatigue, hair loss, weight gain, 9 day periods, heavy bleeding, down right crabbiness all of the time)

Oh and no.....the probiotics don't stop the infections. they mask. I had tried EVERY probiotic with mild relief. RIP IT OUT!!! You will feel so much better. I understand the convenience, but its not worth the health problems.

I am a veteran and the VA is giving me the run around. I am having the same problem with lots of help and encouragement to get it placed. Every doctor I see for the problems wants to reassure me that there is no way that problem is caused by the Mirena and sends me for more tests, which show "nothing wrong." What happened to trusting a woman to know her body and when something isn't right? I swear it feels like Mirena is paying doctors commission to put these in.
