Yes- I had two IUDs each for several years. Each time after 1 year I got recurring BV and yeast infections. The antibiotics I was put on didn't do anything- the infections would keep coming back. Each doctor I saw denied the possibility for the IUD to cause these infections. The first time the BV got SO bad I had no choice but to take out the IUD and both infections cleared in the days following. The second time the IUD was also causing me cramps so I got it taken out but because of the various rounds of antibiotics I was on, the BV became developed immunity so I still deal with recurrent BV. Ladies- be warned about the IUD.

Oh man that is horrible news. I knew my IUD must be contributing to it. i don't want to remove it like at all but there are other things that can be used that are more worth it like spermaside. what do you use alternatively? I could never handle the pill. :(

I'm really sorry, but I disagree with you. I also use Boric acid as needed (after removing IUD), but there are no studies on its long time use. If something foreign is in your body and giving you long standing infections it should be removed. The IUD is not for everyone and better safe than sorry as far as my lady parts go.

I had the Mirena taken out 3 months ago in Dec. I hate to say that I still feel side affects. Every Month I keep getting "inflammation" around my labia and after that subsides I get some sporadic itchiness. All of this makes me loose sleep and I can't stand it anymore. I've been to the Doctor several times, negative for stds, and was told it was dermatological due to soaps and was prescribed some ointment which I use when I am feeling it and I have changed my soaps but I still get this every month like if it was Hormonal related. All I know is that I NEVER had this before the Mirena and I'm wishing I never tried this thing to begin with. Is anyone else having this ? I also still feel like my vision is distorted, Like I can't read the directions on my kids Advil without holding it far away from me where I can finally read it.

Give it a bit longer, after I had mine out I had burning that came and went in that area. I kept going to the doctor and was negative for everything. Even though you could see how inflamed it was. I was told to switch soaps, not wear tight clothes, blah blah blah. But after a while it started to go away. Leave the area alone as much as possible. I used to ice the area when it itches or burned. You don' want to keep scratching. Your hormones should go back to normal.I live by the ocean and found the more I went swimming in cold non-chlorine water the better it seemed to get. Actually the natural springs around here were the best. Its been about a year and I think that I'm 95% better.

Thank you so much for explaining your symptoms because I have been having the same problems and was thinking that it had to be because of my IUD. Now since I see that I am not the only person with this problem, getting this out is a must but the hubby and I will have to take extreme precautions because I am allergic to latex.
