I did mention this website so that he did not think that it has only happened to me, because I don't think he has seen anything like it.

Which is definitely constant and painful every morning, being so painful causes my mind not to be right and certainly ruins my whole day (want to be normal again)
feels like I'm being tortured and the pain is unbearable
though the bulk of the pain isn't around my kidney/back area
more like my whole body has the type of pain when you over exercise (muscles creating painful acid) this is the pain which makes me severely depressed in the mornings and sometimes through most of the day
it has been really sever the last 5 days or so, I've had alot of tests from the doctors the last few months now, cause originally i had stomach acid issues (well the doctors reckon), also issues with lots of painful gas building up in stomach and intestinal area and also the kidney area, and i presumed from reading on the net it could be celiac (gluten issue) well blood tests show that I dont have celiac, though i did stop eating gluten products and most of the build up gas has completely gone, though i still have this kidney issues and pains through my body, all mainly in the mornings and getting better through the day most of the time, except these last 5 days,.
One thing I've also noticed is when wakening up feels like either i wasn't breathing or my breathing was restricted, well my throat certainly feels burnt from acid and swelled, Might have respiratory acidosis which might be causing my kidney and aid problems not sure as usual im the one trying to figure it all out.
I've had ultrasounds upper and lower stomach, colonostrophy and gastrophy, few different blood tests not sure what they were for, well one was for celiac, so far the've only found I have a 1 cm gallstone,.
Anyway going to try another witch doctor this Monday as its getting to unbearable Sad
sorry went on a bit
cheerz ed
ps: its just after 6pm now feeling much better but not right and i surely worry about going to sleep

To me, the water was cleaning a different part of my body while I slept than it did during the day.
The problem started happening for me when I would drink alcohol or soda before bed. I stopped doing this and spent a couple of nights drinking huge amounts of water before going to sleep. Sure I had to go to the bathroom a lot, but after a couple of nights, I was fine and the pain after I slept went away.
I hope this method works out for others.

I'm just now realizing that this could be my kidney's. I've gone to the doctor several times for this pain. Same thing as everyone else: 2 or 3 in the am the pain starts. Toss and turn to find a comfortable position...then really hurts when I breath in and take a deep breath; a really sharp stabbing pain.
Finally, get up, go to the bathroom and it feels better.
I've gone to the doctor and they never diagnosed it correctly. I didn't even think it was my kidney until recently and that's when I started looking up "kidney pain" on the internet. I also started keeping tabs on what I drink and how much and it definitely occurs more when I drink alcohol and caffeine. So, thanks to all you posters who contributed your stories and experiences. I think I may have finally figured out the problem and the solution. :-D

50 years old, Pain in the left kidney area if sleep longer than 7 hours ,which is fine during the week but as I have needed 8 hours for as long as I can remember , catching up at the weekend is an issue...
Pain killers and a walk around for 15 minutes usually gives me enough respite to get another 3hours sleep, but its far from ideal.
I noticed that there are a number of posts from people for whom something has worked but none from anyone who has tried another persons "cure" and had success too
I does seem a little pointless going to the GP though.....
I smoke 10 a day, don't drink, do drink coffee, avoid diary where possible and am on meds for Cholesterol and BP.
I think I will start with the Vit D supplements

Hi everyone, I hope nobody has given up yet. I have the same condition and I can tell that the answer is so close. If there was just a doctor with a brain and some expertise that could see this, I know it would be so clear. Here is what I've come up with so far, as far as a summary goes:
Symptoms
Pain in kidney area while lying
Sharp pain upon deep intake of breath (in severe cases)
Often misdiagnosed as muscle pain in lower back
Pain sometimes persists slightly throughout day as dull ache
Protein in urine (not necessarily always the case)
Symptom Qualifiers
Pain increases with time while lying
Pain increases when lying on side
Pain is worse with alcohol/coffee consumption
Pain recedes relatively quickly after standing up (and urinating)
Pain is less when knees and/or back is propped up
Possible Causes
Kidney infection
Chronic appendicitis
-Chronic dehydration
Glomerulonephritis
IGAN:
*Blocked urethra
Urine flowing back to kidneys
-Too much calcium (from supplements)
Stress
*Citric acid clearing through kidneys (sensitivity)
Adrenal fatigue
Parasites
*At least one person has found relief after treating these conditions.
-At least one person has found that these were not the causes for them.
Possible Remedies
Drinking *lots* of water
Vitamin D (initial worsening followed by easing of symptoms)
Cut out caffeine from diet
Getting lots of exercise
If I've left anything off the list, someone please add it. I should note that in my case I recently developed a possibly related condition--a constant sensation of needing to urinate. I am going to see a naturopathic doctor soon and will take this list to him. If we figure anything out, I will definitely post it. In the mean time, I would recommend to anyone with this condition to drink a TON of water, cut out caffeine from your diet, and try getting more exercise. I can't recommend vitamin D, but it may help some people. [/url]
