laser treatments for diabetic patients who have retinopathy?

Hi there! My daughter is diabetic and has retinopathy. She would also like to get laser treatments to improve her sight and I am very happy to give this to her as a birthday present! But before I mention something that I am not sure is even possible, I would like to know if laser treatments are available to diabetic patients who have retinopathy?
