Stopped taking the pill last month after being on it for 14 years. first period after stopping was normal and on time, but this month's period was due 2 weeks ago and still nothing. Having very severe cramps, especially after having sex, and my breasts are extremely sore. not sure if this is normal after stopping the pill and will i return to a normal cycle? or could it be early pregnancy signs? have not taken a test yet, as i believe it's just my body's response to coming off of the pill. does anyone have any issues like this and if so, does this ever normalize?

I am having all the symptons too. Been off the pill (Yaz) for 3wks. Having lower abdominal pains on each of my sides (maybe ovaries) and my back. When I push to pee it seems to release the pressure but its kinda hurts. I know I don't have a bladder infection and I know I am not pregnant. So I am pretty sure this is side effect from getting off the pill. But I am concerned how long this lasts. Nobody responded to if they got better or how long it lasts. If any can respond that would be great. It would help to maybe see a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks.

It is most likely a cyst on your ovaries, same thing happened to me. Went to the hospital and they did a scan. Your birth control can cause the cyst to not get so big I literally thought I had appendicitis! So painful! It will pass after the cyst ruptures on its own. I took pain meds to help. Good luck!

Glad to see we are all not alone! I have been off BC for 3 weeks and have had uterine cramps non stop! My hubby and I are trying to get pregnant but I don't think its that. I guess this is a some what "normal" phenomena since this many women are experiencing it.

Hi all,

I had been on Loestrin 24 Fe for 5+ years and stopped taking it 2-3 weeks ago.  I had the same thing - pressure in my lower abdomen, mainly on the left side, kinda feeling strange to sit down and pee (but not stinging), being kinda crampy.  I went to my PCP and he checked for a UTI, it wasn't that.  He told me it was most likely my body beginning to ovulate again, and if it got worse/didn't get better within a week to see my gyno to rule out any other issues.  I'm glad to see that this is a common issue.  Good luck to you all!

I agree that it is most likely cyst on the ovaries. I had this same pain and was diagnose with cysts on my ovaries. Have been on birth control for years now and recently stoped. With in a week the pain came back. My doctor put me on birth control to help contold my cyst from growing so big. I'm tired of taking birth control but might have to start again o control the pain

I too have been on the pill for 20+ years. Just got off of it this month. Its been about 2 weeks and now I have terrible pain in my lower abdomen. I have to imagine that my body is adjusting to not being on the hormone. I Will wait until my next period to see what happens. Took two advil this morning to see if it will help the pain. I am 43

Hi, Did your pain ever go away? I was on Nuvaring recently and pill before that for 24 years. Just stopped because my husband got a vasectomy. I'm having the uterine pain and feels swollen. I am 40. I stopped about 3 weeks ago. Would love to know how yours turned out. Thanks.

hi
Just wondering if you found an answer and if the cramping stopped. I am 44 aand have been on the pill since i was 15. Only tome i stopped was 8 years ago when i had my daughter. Decided to go off the pill and stopped about 1 week ago but feel bloated and have slight dull cramps in the pelvic area and was wondering if it is due to the pill.

Hey. I am experiencing something similar, I know this thread was from a while back but I'm just wondering if you can remember what your doctor said?

It's due to the pill. Your body will begin ovulating, etc.
