I received a Lisfranc injury in Alaska, on aug, 2nd it took 3 Drs. to diagnose it and was finally placed in a knee high boot for 6 weeks on the 19th, and the injury was confrimed w/ an mri. I have been out of the boot since 9/30 and am still not able to go up and down stairs, or walk bare foot, they did a second mri and may haver to place a screw between 1st and second toe, has any one else had longer than 12 weeks of recovery? :'(
Yes, do not get discouraged. Even if you had a non-displaced (stable) injury the healing time is very long as this is a very complex injury. I had my injury on JUl 24, did not have surgery (had 3 fractures and partially torn plantar ligament) and was with crutches for 6 weeks and in the booth for another 4 weeks then in sneakers for about a month. Now I am 3.5 month into this and the foot feels better every day but I know it will be another 3 months at least before I feel it is normal. Physical therapy is critical (!) for the healing and you need a really good PT to help you increase weight very gradually and without much pain. Not being able to walk up and down the stairs might be due to the ankle being locked in from the booth. This was the case for me and the PT helped relax the ankle bones with various techniques to slide well again (it took about a month and a half of PT to go down the stairs properly). You need specific exercises for range of motions, balance, strenghtening, etc. if you want to get back to normal. It all comes back very gradually, just a very tricky injury. Good luck, i really wish you a solid recovery.
