I think I`m putting to many salt in my body and want to control the level of sodium intake. I try not to use salt at the table and stuff like that but don`t know anything about suggested dietary salt intake. Should I stop eating ketchup, corn chips, salad dressing and stuff like that?

Hi, well, normal salt diet means you take 1100-3300mg/day of salt. 4000-6000mg/d of salt is high, and 400-1000 mg/d is low salt diet. Those, so called high salt products have relatively low sodium values, but when served in small portions. Each day, it is the total amount of sodium that counts. Fresh fruits and veggieshave low sodium content. Avoid adding salt to vegetables during preparation. Use herbs and spices instead of salt. Avoid pickles, salted nuts and other snack food.
