Please everyone calm down. This is your cervix. The "lump" you feel is your cervix, it is only on one side and at an angle, and very far back inside your vagina. I'm sure everyone's is slightly different lengths. I never felt mine before until after I started having sex, and after I had kids. I am 30 years old and I have 2 children. I googled "lump" on cervix because I felt something on my cervix like a little bump on it, and I came across all of these posts. I had to fill you all in because this is ridiculous to be worrying for no reason. I am just going to get a pap smear and see what the doctor says for my little worry. I'm sure everything will turn out fine for me. :-)

For chrissake, ladies, please - there's a book titled "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler, MPH which will answer all of your questions. You may find it used for cheap - $11 last I looked.
Your cervix will change position over the course of your cycle. After your period and just before you have it again, it will be low and you'll be able to feel it. When you're fertile midcycle, it will be high, may change it direction it points, and may even feel like it has disappeared. If you're concerned, try charting it over a month, checking every day.
30yr old - I know I'm kinda late, but if your pap was normal, then those are probably little cysts that may come and go with your cycle. They're totally normal and nothing to worry about.
This is the gateway to your uterus and it has a small hole in it which the sperm will have no trouble swimming through. They've been doing it for thousands of years. In fact, it will be to your benefit to know this stuff so you can avoid getting pregnant until you're totally ready!
Also, the bleeding is natural since you have few nerve endings in your vaginal canal and cervix, you probably couldn't feel if his nails were scratching you or whatever.
Best health and good luck.

Guys I think I figured out what it is.
So I felt a new bump the other night in the same spot and didn't think much of it. Searched this thread tonight and decided to feel it. It was hard, didn't feel like anything though, and large.
So as gross as it sounds I decided to see what it was, if I pressed hard enough and pushed, it would move.
My conclusion- it's fecal matter. Yep, if you're daring enough, try probing your anus and feel if anything is in there on that same spot.
Sounds gross but it's just anatomy.
If that's not it, then you should definitely get it checked.

Because that far down, it's DEFINITELY not your cervix.
Your cervix is at the back of your vagina, not your anus.

i'm 16 and a virgin. i've never had a boy touch me, though i've touched them. But this is since i found this lump in the back of my vagina. it's really far back and about 2 inches like everyone else, it's never bled, and it's never ever hurt. It's just there. i first found it a year ago, and it's been bothering me every day since then. I told my mum, and she asked if i'd ever had sex, and promised to take me to the doctors, but she never did. I thought there was something really wrong with me, either an STD or cancer. But then i found this, it was so reassuring, i really hope that everyone is right, and that it is my cervix, because i freak out whenever a boy goes near me. I will feel comfortable in my own skin now. :-)

It's just the cervix, the opening to the uterus. Nothing to worry about unless you notice it changing a lot or you get any unusual discharge :-)

OMG..thank you SO much for posting this! 8) I have noticed this for the past year as well! But in my case, this "lump" is effecting the way I go to the bathroom everyday....I made a GYN appt fpr the end of this month because I was SURE I magically grew something that wasn't supposed to be in there..You don't know how much this helps!!! Guess it's been a long time since health class, LOL :$

Hey guys,
i am 16 years old and a virgin. Before i read this i was really really scared because i felt a lump like this too and i thought it was weird becuase i couldnt always feel it and i just noticed it one day.
i got so scared because some time later the lymph nodes in my throat were swollen (which combined with a lump in my vagina could point towards cancer) and there is a history of cancer in my moms and my dads side of the family!
My lymph nodes are still swollen and i am still a bit worried but i am not scared anymore thanks to the information that all of you provided in this forum!!
I just wana thank all of you, but i would suggest that those of you that are still not sure everything is alright Go To A Doctor! Better safe than sorry!
I havnt told my parents that i actually thought i had cancer but i probably will soon so that i can go to the doctors and get myself checked out just in case.
THANK YOU again, all of you. you have been a huge help, and set my mind at ease!!
