I'm interested in health issues that surround beauty care, so did personal researched for years now. Also an over Acid system created by eating acid foods also makes an environment for cancers to grow. To combat this, one can include drinking teas that are alkaline, like bitter melon. Also there is this water filter that puts out both alkaline based water as well as acid based water. They one i used was Mavello Alkaline Ionized Antioxidant Water filter. The water from this filter tastes is superior, so it's a pleasure to drink allot. Evidently Acid water is a good astringent for cuts/sores and applying on the skin (not drinking). I left my filter overseas and so it's not with me now... going back to it soon though. If one researches Alkaline and Acid food there is quite a bit of info on identification of what foods to eat to be more balanced.

Acid and Alkaline is part of the acne puzzle, hormone imbalance seems to have an equal weight in its cause. As a woman my hormones fluctuated greatly.. and i believe my acne was result of extra testosterone.

I like to see scientific studies done on masturbation and it's correlation to hormones, interesting to discover if masturbation creates more testosterone and acne or if high testosterone levels creates acne and masturbation....lol.

This acid/alkaline topic seems interesting, and I don't doubt it having to do with hormone fluctuations, or even ejaculation-induced acne. Maybe if a scientist/biologist were to break it down as tell us what happens in a guy's body after he ejaculates, everything will start to make sense.

I am pretty sure that you are right about this actually. I do not know if there actually is a strong correlation. For everyone who's posting, do you have acne and masturbate a great deal? I found that as a teen, I was not half as sexually active as I am now, and I have almost perfectly clear skin.

Well I agree with healthnfitnessguy, My sexual life is more active then when I was younger and masturbated, but I don't have acnes. One or two from time to time, but it is not something that can bother me. I'm still not convinced that there is a big connection between these two things. Is there any formal study related to this?

Of course there is a connection between ejaculation and acne, however doctors and pharmacists refuse to pose a formal study to this. Here's why: there are too few of men with the problem; the subject of acne itself is taboo and is therefore repressed.

The connection between ejaculation and acne are clear to those who see themselves with results of inflammation after. Many men go through their sexual lives never dealing with such inflammation, and this is what gets the health industry to ignore it. Also, the health industry will only make a formal study, let alone a single effort, towards anything that poses a threat to people's health. Because this rare study of ejaculation-induced acne has no serious health concern on the body, and that the problem is not mainstream, they could care less.

Hi Phez,
you made nice arguments here. But do you think that they would make a bigger difference that other acne creams that we have now? Do you think it would be more effective if they just focused their study on masturbation and acne's?

Do you really think that the subject of acne is taboo though? I think that it would be discussed a lot more than masturbation. I know that I am ejaculating on a pretty regular basis but I do not have any acne at this point. I'm not saying that it wouldn't warrant some discussion but I'm just curious if the correlation is still there. What do you think?

if i masturbate, a cyst grows till it pops leaving a big brown spot. if i dont, the cyst stay reddish with no significant swelling and then go away with also no visible mark. Ive been witnissing this trend for 2 years now and my conclusion is that masturbation worsen the devlopment of cysts but is not a direct cause for their creation.

Boys.....Just a question but Why is it that you young men...I'm assuming High School or Younger are the ones recording these results? Could it be perhaps that that is the age when acne effects most people?

I have to think long and hard how Masturbation and Acne are connected....Can someone shed some light on how you possibly think this is connected?

I don't undertand this theory you have since when Masturbating and Ejaculating your not causing any physical effect on your acne. It isn't connected guys, it really isn't. If it was than wouldn't you think that grown men, with happy sex lives would be running the streets full of acne? They have sex, ending in ejaculation, just like you guys. Ejaculting is ejaculting no matter if its from your hand or from sex.

I'm sorry to sound negative, but its just what I think....there is more to Acne than how often you play with yourself. Cause I'm sure there are boys or young men like yourselves with acne problems that have never masturbated ever.

dark_red, masturbation - or ejaculation - is voluntary and does not concern the world's population. Also, my type of acne (which is cystic) is a skin condition that proceeds from the inside-out, making it immune from being prevented by topical treatments such as creams. That is what I've found anyway. After combining the urge to release every now and then, cystic acne, and a rare hormonal link between the two, it seems I have no choice other than to take internal medicine if I want to be acne-free. So yep, acne creams are useless for the type of condition I have (besides I've tried just about all of them).

And about the doctors and what not focusing their study on masturbation and acne (actually it should be called "study on ejaculation-induced acne"), the odds that they would even ponder that idea is like winning the lottery! I mean, doesn't that experiment sound rediculous? (you know I'm joking...and hey, hopefully someday Dr. Oz will make an episode of it)

healthnfitnessguy, I couldn't think of another word other than taboo when typing that time. Of course acne would be discussed more than masturbation--a lot more--but I thought that acne was a sensitive enough subject to be shunned in all conversations. Taboo...ignored...controversial? Nobody wants to talk about a face full of acne, especially if it's theirs. On top of that, here on this discussion board we have a handful of guys spilling the beans that they have this issue that just doesn't add up. Skin problem: okay. Constantly struggling with it: fine. but having it induced by a natural, good thing?: Not okay. And, doctors say "it's all in your head", "that is a myth", blah blah blah, and don't help the situation at all.

Just because not every guy suffers from ejaculation-induced acne, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. This is just like a rare health condition that scientists discover all the time, so it should be categorized studied as such.

I too have noticed the masturbation=acne connection. I am over 30 and it has affected me since I was a teen. Some things that have helped me are: 1) Drink a large glass of water IMMEDIATELY after orgasm, 2) Avoid sugary foods and drinks for the rest of the day, as well as salty and fried foods, 3) Don't masturbate more than once a week. Also, a daily multi-vitamin helps.

My theory as to why this connection exists for some of us is that hormones are involved. I once read that ejaculation causes an immediately increase in testosterone levels, which has been shown to inflame or lead to acne. Why doesn't this happen to all people? It's just a case of bad luck. I wish I could help more but I can't. Hang in there, fellows.

I think Phez that I've misunderstood your argument. I thought the thrust of it was that masturbation causes acne, not that it causes acne in a SMALL number of men. I think that it is possible that the testosterone boost from masturbating could cause acne in men, but as of yet it is just a hypothesis so you do have to realize that it will be treated as such. But I do agree that it is plausible, although I don't know about how possible it is. Is that what you're saying?

Yes, it is only a hypothesis. Nothing more! All of the reasons I've stated in this topic have no credited sources. In a perfect world this topic would help raise awareness in scientific research and what not, but instead it only supports the affected (which is non age-sensitive). So, believe what you want but I'll still be on the lookout for any solutions to this "theory".

From now on, any more plausible ideas to relieve hormonal fluctuations in males would be considered and greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure that I can give you some useful idea for this. But as I can see you have really get in to this. I rally hope that you find some solution and if possible prove your theory. If anybody has some idea just post. Something will come out of this.
Keep on the good work Phez.
