So I'm living proof you can do it. Not gonna lie not easy. At all! Ok so I cold turkey methadone. Took almost 4 to 5 days to start feeling very uncomfortable. We're people say a week or too.. No. Not in my case was on 160mg for 10 yrs. Decreased down to 15mg. But then got kicked off for none payment. Ended up relapsing and using off street methadone for couple months went back on methadone at 75mg for almost year cold turkey stoped at home. Like said almost 4 to 5 days start to feel bad. Like weeds into vomiting for like 4 to 5 days. Went to hospital cause I caused a acid linking in throat. Painful. Not gonna lie and anxiety. Holy sh**. Bad but they gave me pain meds was none addicting helped pill I can't remember it devolved under tongue and a none addicted anxiety meds. It helped little I'm 5 months in I can say only month ago it got to be some what tolerable. Have to want it badly to say enough of depending on c**p to feel what we think is normal. What I can honestly say I don't know what normal is mite never know. But I know what's is tolerable compared to that long withdrawal symptoms and procces. I'm still not sleeping over 5 to 6 hourr. But improvement of 2 to 3 months of one hour If lucky I can't tame Pms like Advil or Tylenol. Additated my anxity worse some can. So that mite help. I'm at month five only thing is my legs they hurt and still restless but some what barable. Our brains need time to heal. I can say all the hell went threw for months makes me never again want to touch anything. Heroin withdrawal is like a week cold turkey methadone i can only say by exsperiance much worse. I'm still in disbelif that I'd done still am. Only u can choose to do it. Far far from easy. Not gonna sugar coat it. But worth it. Fac5 I don't got worry about getting my dose or feeling bad or worry if I paid my bill at clinic or for some drug dealers to wake up not perfect but OK not wanting to die or feel like dying is OK with me. Feel better as months past. Methadone has caused some nerve damage I still shake but not as bad. My legs are worst. But like I said I know it's process not gonna happen over night. Heroin comes out of you faster and heal quicker physically. Methadone is longer physically. Longer.... So they tell you in your first group methadone withdrawal is less then heroin they should stop lying about that. But like everything you quick in time you heal. All I know this is better then what I was dealing with before and every week gets little better. Methadone detox is more weakness you just feel tired all time even though can't sleep. Now sleeping better on own feels good. To know my body is trying even after over 10 yrs of abuse it's trying that enough for me. I wish every one luck on getting off methadone. Be surprised how much you can do if you really want it or just tired of being tired...

Hey, as for you legs and other pain. Perhaps you might ask your doc for Lyrica. It's expensive, but if you have insurance then it will probably be fine. Don't let them give you Gabapentin, it doesn't work. Lyrica will make all that pain go away. It can be addicting, but if you keep it under control, it could be your god send.
You are doing what many others can not do. You are stronger than most. Keep up the great work, and love yourself enough to manage your addiction. You and I both know, no matter what anyone says, that we "love" the drug. We just have to break up with it, because it's tearing our lives apart. You're doing and amazing job. Keep up the good work.
