I have a problem and need help!
I am on methatrexate, as prescribed y doctor and I think I have some side effects. I called to his office, but no one answers. I have sores in mouth, could this be because of methatrexate? I really need some advice…I do not know what to do. Should I stop treatment until I get in touch with my doc?
It is very possible that mouth sores are a result of methatrexate, actually this is the most frequent side effect. I could advise to lower the dose or stop taking it. Maybe this will make you fell better, this is not that serious side effect and it is not severe toxicity.
The disease(s) for which you are being treated for methatrexate can be the reason for sores in the mouth.
o.O i would never advise anyone to stop taking a medication or lowering the dose before consullting your doctor . Sores in the mouth are a side effect of this drug but not the worst one mind you .Tell your doctor what you are experiencing and he'll sort you out.
I was taking Methotrexate for about 18 months .For Vasculitis one of the the bab things is the mouth ulsers . Sorry to say you just have to get used to it . You can use a good mouth regular . This does help and clears them up . Don't know why you take it but the mouth wash did work for me . It's a good drug and takes a while to get used to so stick in there .Good luck
