Hi everyone,
This is a last ditch effort since I can't seem to find a solution anywhere. I had the mirena IUD placed and shortly after began sweating excessively. I mean sweating through my clothes withing a matter of hours. Every night I would drench the bed due to night sweats. The uncontrollable sweating has caused unbelievable facial and body acne. I gained about 50 lbs withing about 1 month and my period stoped about 3 months after insertion. It has now been 3 years since I had the mirena IUD removed and the sweating has gotten a tiny bit better but I still sweat through my clothes daily and have gained about 30 more lbs ( within 1 month of getting the mirena removed) I finally got my period bad about 3 months ago( 2.5 years after removing the mirena iud) I've been to about 5 doctors, all of whom tell me I'm crazy and ignore the issues. I literally stand up from the chair and leave a puddle. Please someone help me! Any advice is appreciated!
Hello, while I cannot provide a diagnosis, I can offer some general suggestions:
-
Seek a second opinion: If you feel that the doctors you have seen so far have not adequately addressed your concerns, it may be beneficial to seek a second opinion from another healthcare professional. Consider finding a specialist in endocrinology or gynecology who can thoroughly evaluate your symptoms and help identify any potential hormonal or metabolic imbalances.
-
Keep a symptom journal: Document your symptoms, including the frequency and severity of sweating, weight changes, and any other related concerns. This information can be helpful when discussing your symptoms with healthcare professionals, providing them with a clearer understanding of your experiences.
-
Advocate for yourself: It's essential to be persistent in seeking appropriate medical care. Clearly communicate your concerns, the impact these symptoms have on your daily life, and your desire for a thorough evaluation. Don't hesitate to ask for referrals to specialists who may have more expertise in addressing your specific symptoms.
-
Consider lifestyle changes: While you pursue medical advice, you can also make some lifestyle changes that may help manage symptoms. These can include practicing stress-reduction techniques, maintaining a balanced diet, staying hydrated, engaging in regular exercise, and using breathable fabrics that can help manage sweating.
Consulting with a healthcare professional who can assess your symptoms in person is crucial for accurate evaluation and appropriate treatment. Please continue to advocate for yourself and seek the help you need.
