Omg nooo keep it in. That's soooo normal. The iud taking your period away is a bonus. And not every girl can be soo lucky. My period was gone for 3.5 years! But came back for the last year. Sign. But totally normal. Normal levels are just changing. Don't be afraid. And don't take it out to out back in. That's outrageous

I'm so glad I found this thread. Three years in and virtually no problems then yesterday I had the worst cramps of my life with heavy spotting but really no flow. The spothing has stopped and the cramps have subsided but not gone. However I have had a constant headache sinice it began and am constantly nauseous. I move across country and have yet to find a new doctor. Seems like this should be a 3 year plan instead of a 5.

I've had exactly the same as this lady which has led. me to this site. I'm 47 and had the mirena fitted 3 and a half years ago due to heavy long periods. After the initial couple of months I've had no periods at all which was a blessing but the last couple days I've had terrible stomach cramps and I thought no way can it be period pains but then today I've started bleeding quite heavily and had to use tanpax. Surely something isn't right as I'm long way from 5 years. Others that have had this problem when checked was the coil still in place? I'm wondering if they'll give me another one as it's obvious something has changed and I shouldn't be in this pain and with this much blood loss. Any advice would be appreciated

I have also had the 5 year Mirena for aboutique 3 1/2 yrs now. I have never spotted or has a period even when I first got it.
Now, after this long I have started to cramp, my boobs have been sore, and I have cramps sometimes. I am worried that it's moved and hurting me inside... I am definately going to see a Dr right away. My advice to anyone experiencing this to do the same asap.

This was so helpful! A little over a week ago I had to stop my boyfriend during sex because it hurt so bad. My whole belly felt like it was being attacked. I wonder if we jolted it a little bit and that's why I all of a sudden have light bleeding.

That's exactly what's happening to me and I've never had issues with mine. It's due to be removed in May so I'm thinking the same as you!

My gyno said after a certain timeframe your body may adjust to the hormones and regulate a period. I'm dealing with the same thing and I haven't had any mishaps with the mirena at all. She also said if anything else like major weight loss or other health change shave happened that a period can come back.

I think most of you are older then me but I'm 17. I've had mirena for 2 years. I haven't had my period since the day I got it. I mean nothing! The nurse was surprised I wasn't bleeding after they put it in. Anyways today I started bleeding. I have crazy cramps like I used to when I had periods. I have terrible mood swings these last few days and I'm freaking out! I checked for my IUD but felt nothig. I did a little bit of research and this is some information I found. 1. Your iud could have gone through your uterus walls or become attached. Which can be damaging to other organs. 2. if you happen to be one the 8 in 1,000 women that get pregnant other the course of five years it could be fatal. The baby would grow in your Fallopian tube which could cause internal bleeding. 3. 12 in 100 women form cysts on their ovaries which can explain the horrible cramps I'm experiencing. I'm so scared
