You need to see a different doc and get a second opinion. You should not be having so many problems and this could be a sign of problems. I would get another opinion just to be safe

I've had mirena for about 2.5 years or so and it stopped the bleeding but I still get horrible cramps and nauseous and every other period symptom. Plus weight gain and depression etc....and now I have some light bleeding after not bleeding for like 2 years. This thing is more trouble than its worth.

I was always haven pregnancy systoms on the iud. I had very single pregnancy system there was. I bloated all the time, back pain ,camps every night you name it I was dealing with it. I got my mirena out and I am slowly getting better. I had the hormone iud for 3years inserted after I had my first child.

This is all kind of comforting to hear, thanks for sharing experiences. I have had my Mirena for 2 years, 1 month and after a blissful no-period innings suddenly I have my period (and have also been a bit light-headed the last few days which may or may not be related but it's not a common occurence for me). Will be interesting to see how this pans out... I sure hope no cramps nor pain will come about but that being said I have always had pain-free periods. I suspect 2 years is the ""magic time frame" for me as in the past I have had 2 Implanons and each stopped the period-free zone around 2 years. I actually got the second removed early as I started getting my period every second week which was pleasant at all. Anyway I hope we all have things improve for us. As a woman, navigating contraception options is hard :/

Well ladies I will be honest. I had a very normal period for about 15 months after insertion... Then I got concerned about being pregnant when I stopped bleeding. My doctor informed me it was normal but did a check lip at that point... Come to find out that the "pregnancy" symptoms I was having was cervical cancer. I had never even had an abnormal Pap before that... And now after having cancer removed I still have the mirena. It has been another 12 months with no period and all the sudden started again and have been bleeding for 4 days. I am calling my doc Monday. I would suggest you do the same to be safe. Good luck to you.

I've had mine in for 2.5 years and just yesterday I started to spot and have slight cramps after not having a period for the entire time. Maybe I need to call the dr.

That's unfortunate your body didn't take well to Mirena but I do think it's different from person-to-person, and I have had nothing but a very positive experience. It seems you have a very sensitive system in terms of IUDs and hormones, so the right fit would be very important. I hope you found what you're looking for and what your body needs!

I went to the doc thinking I had appendicitis as it was my right ovary. It turned out to be an ovarian cyst (normal if you aren't having periods, a cyst can develop and doesn't clean itself out as in a usual cycle - or at least that's my understanding). Not sure if this could explain it. I just want to know why I'm suddenly getting my period after so long, ha.
