I am on my third week of birth control pills, third pack. I started bc for PCOS. Last month, I missed my period, took a pregnancy test and failed, took another last week and still negative. Friday night, I missed y pill and took two Saturday. I had light, light spotting until today. When I woke up this morning I had incredibly thick, clumpy, and clotty blood. It's so red it's almost black. Should I call my doctor or is this normal?
I don't see any harm at all for you to call your doctor an re-check everything to be certain about how things are, but considering your previous history of PCOS it is not completely strange that your body reacts strongly to the birth control pills and any change connected with them, even if it is as small change as a skipped pill. That is because PCOS is caused by large hormonal imbalance so hormones from the pill are supposed to correct this imbalance, but these things are always sensitive and it definitely will take you up to three months to get used to the pill. You didn't have your periods because BC pills stop the ovulation and than there is no need for your body to have periods as it did before BC. IT is normal and expected effect, so don't worry too much over that.
