I am 24 and am going through the same type of thing. About 9 months ago I thought I was pregnant and went to the doc and found out that I was not pregnant. I was sent to have ultrasound done on my ovaries and was told that I have multiple cysts on my ovaries. They are not painful but I have not had a period since I was about 16. The doctors used to always tell me that my body was just trying to regulate and that I was fine. After finding out about my cysts the doc said that it would be extremely hard for me to have children. All of my dreams were crushed. I have always wanted to be a mom and can't imagine life without kids. It was really hard news to find out and I felt like I let my fiance down too. I have been told that weight loss can help and that you can also sometimes get on pills if your like me to regulate a period to help. I have been trying both of these and have had no luck yet. Really hoping that a miracle pulls through and I am blessed with a baby. Does anyone know if the cysts can cause damage to a baby if you do get pregnant? Thanks for letting me share my story. Good luck all.

Sounds like you should go and ask a doctor (maybe a different one if you aren't having luck with your normal one) for a referral to a gynecologist. Sounds like you might have a condition called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom. You may get symptoms such as no periods (or even really heavy periods), weight gain, acne, hair loss on your head and/or extra hair where you don't want it. Not having periods for years really needs to be examined further. Once you have found out why you are having these problems then make sure you talk to someone about getting a referral to a reproductive specialist.

Sound like you have been having troubles for a while, so my advice is to keep seeing doctors until you get a referral and get it sorted out ASAP. If you keep waiting you will regret having not done it sooner as youth will make any assisted reproduction much easier ....and you might not even need any help once they work out what is wrong and why you are developing cysts.

Anything less than a referral to an expert is just not good enough from a doctor. Obviously your hormones are not likely to just fix them selves on their own and you deserve to be taken seriously. once you have got a proper diagnosis (as to why you get cysts), then you can also explore different options. There are different methods of assisted fertility, and more natural options such as acupuncture or expert doctors who gently manipulate you hormones until they are "normal". All have had successes. Good luck ....and don't give up! Be strong and demand better health care! You deserve it.

I have PCOS with 60ish cysts between the two ovaries. I found it berry difficult to lose weight and was always hungry. I got aggressive easy and what made me see a doctor was I thought I was pregnant because of a lack of periods. Turns out I had extremely high testosterone and with further gynecologist examination and an internal exam found I had PCOS I was put on Metformin which helped with weight loss and my body being able to use the energy from food instead of storing it as fat. I also went to a Naturopath who put me on naturopathic meds and that helped significantly. After 6 months of using both I'm 14kg lighter, my periods are back to occurring naturally, I'm less hungry and feel happier and healthier. I thought naturopaths were quacks but turns out it has helped.

i have just turned 18, and i had really irregular periods and bad pains. so i went to the doctors, got an ultrasound turns out i have poly-cystic syndrome. theres 20 on my right, and 19 on my left, im really scared that ill be infertile, as i would love to be a mother eventually. they recommended the pill to me, but i cant go on the pill as it has given me a blood clot in my lung before which could have killed me. and im not overweight so thats not a factor either. im also very scared.
