I was reading up on some other forums about cyclists and triathletes. On those threads, people stated they received them after an intense ride. Similarly, the people on the forums said pickle juice helps to suppress the cramps. They also said the cramps could be due to having weak inner thigh muscles from not working them out. Could this be a reason why you're getting your cramps? Mines have occurred after playing volleyball outdoors in hot temperatures for a long duration of time. Have you noticed the cramping occurring after certain activities?

Omg I just had my first inner thigh cramp. I stood up to go potty and it felt like all of my muscle tissue was being pulled tight. My whole inner thigh got real hot and there was a very bad pain. I mainly suffer from calf cramps. Those wake me up in a dead sleep. Idk I really wish I never got them. Mine are bad. It feels as if someone got a hot mouth spreader and stabbed me with it right in the calf then started to spread my calf apart ripping everything inside my calf.

OMG! I know how you feel! I do believe this has something to do with hydration, no doubt! I have been getting these the evening after I push mow for for 2hrs. I just had the same cramps again last night in both inner thighs! Im on here trying to find a way to work them out. Like you, the old get up and walk it off only makes the stabbing pain in my inner thigh angry! So far, all I can do is jump up, keep my legs straight and together and bend and lean on the table until it passes. (4-5 min.) sometimes I will squeeze my thigh but I don't know how much good it does. I was hoping to find the instant relief position here. It truly is the worst pain I have ever felt next to child birth. I have scared my entire family with my screams in the night! I guess I will just keep doing what im doing. I do have gabapentin 300mg prescribed and I take it if I think I might get an "attack". like you say, you can feel something before you actually get one. I did take it last night but it didn't seem to ease it at all. Next week I will take two before bed. I am a 43 yr old female. 6'1'' tall. I have always had calf muscle cramps. but nothing compares to this!

FYI, my husband suffers the same spasms and they always come at night and we are all perplexed to no end but ..................we have found relief and would love to share. We make sure there is baking soda at our house at all times. When you feel the initial sensation, immediately get a half glass of water and a teaspoon of baking soda, mix well and drink it. All of it. We do not travel without this white powdered concoction. My hubby even keeps a small plastic container of it in his golf bag, his locker at work, my car, his car........... Hope this helps.

I too get leg cramps daily and mostly in my inner thighs . Lately they start in my feet and work their way up to the thigh area. I'm taking a lot of magnesium and I find dill pickle juice almost helps me the most.

I'm experiencing same as U. I'm over weight too I get this pain only on my left thigh when I'm asleep it wakes me up and when I strech my leg to get out of bed it gets worse. What i do is stand up imidietly and start walking around the house it will last for 1 minute. And the pain will fade away. I'm 59 years old.

I've tried to be conscience of my leg movements. When I get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night I try to move SLOWLY so as not to cause the inner thigh to go into spasms It's not a cure but seems to help. Sometimes I am very sleeping and forget and when I move abruptly I feel the inner thigh start to tighten so I lie very still till it passes. Wish I had more suggestions, it truly is horrific pain, to the point of feeling to vomit.

Are you on hormones? The doctor told me to increase my magnesium but if I take a whole hormone pill I get exactly what your describing.

No, I'm not on hormones in good health not overweight and not on meds except HCTZ and Potassium Citrate for kidney stone prevention. One episode I had the muscle contractions lasted 8 minute was so painful I went to the ER. They tested my blood and all was good. My Nephrologist order a blood work up and all was good.

I have been getting the inner thigh cramps for years, both thighs at the same time during the middle of the night.. The pain is unbearable, and you can't stand straight or walk. Sore thighs for days afterward. My Doctor recommended tonic water and since I started that I have Had no cramps at all. I just take a bottle of tonic water, mix it into two smaller water bottles, add some crystal light lemon favor and that's it. Take a couple of swigs every night before bed. I swear its like so amazing. Try it...it works !!

I just read your post - I know EXACTLY the pain you are talking about -- and I have often said what you said: plain ordinary "charley-horse" cramps in the calf are a piece of cake, compared to these. I also read Dr Milosevic's reply - nothing new or helpful there. Would like to know: which muscle is it that is cramping like this?

Statin cholesterol drugs gave me leg "cramps" that I could only describe as it felt as if my calves were turning to stone. It was excruciating. Could it be the Lipitor?

HTC is a diuretic. Might need to talk to Dr about this. Perhaps it needs to be adjusted. I had to be taken off it due to low sodium in my blood.
