I to have experienced these, only 2 times so far, about 4 weekd apart, I have the feet disfunctional spasm, I call them that due to my feet draws up so bad and hurts, however the inner thigh (right) what I experienced was like a knife ripping from the inner knee up toward the inner thigh all the way up, the pain is none like I have experienced before, woke me up 2 times (different) mine only last about 10-15 minutes and the pain AWFUL!
I scream and grab my leg, thats all I can do..I'm 55 wich there was something for that type of spasm....I'm glad someone else knows what I'm talking about, I sort of thought "Wow how could I be the only one"..

You should go to Walmart and buy the pills called "leg cramp pills". That's literally their name. You can also get them from walgreens/CVS. My dad gets those inner thigh cramps and within just minutes of taking those pills he has relief. I'm absolutely positive that will help you. Also, you might getna blood glucose checker. My dad noticed that he gets those cramps a lot when his blood sugar is really high. I hope this helps you!

no one knows how bad it is, except you guys here in this blog. I use a soft jelly like ice pack that gets kept in the fridge. I find ice works better than heat for some reason. I too have low back problems that have gotten worse over the years. Good luck everyone, I feel your pain.

When the episode occurs I immediately take my hand and press as hard as possible against the inner thigh so as to stop the muscle torquing. At times I get them in both legs at the same time. I used both hands to press down on my inner thigh muscles. At worst it lasted 8 minutes. I do try and drink 8-10 glasses of room temp water. The body absorbs room temp quickly rather than ice water which can shock muscles. The extra water helps with less episodes.

Drink about 2 oz. pickle juice, sweet or dill. Cramps in inner thigh will stop within a minute. Wish I knew this 25 years ago. I get cramps after consuming sugar.

Omg! I could have written that. I had one last night. Pain was sooooo bad I felt sick. You cannot rub it away like cramp. If you touch it , it tightens more. Absolutely nothing you can do but wait for it to pass. I also knew it was going to happen. Had three children but this pain lasts a lot longer than minute or so. If I jump out of bed whatever position my leg is in I have to stay still or it just tightens more. It's quite unbearable. It's a pain I'm frightened of.

Yes, definitely sugar plays a role. Every attack I've had has occurred after some form of sugar intake.

I get the cramps at night after a good bicycle ride of more than one hour. It will usually happen that night or the next night. It will come on after sitting in the recliner after an hour or so were I'm very comfortable. Or after I've gone to bed it will wake me up, then it takes about ten minutes for the cramping to stop. They say it's from being dehydrated, but I take supplements for recovery after the ride and drink fluids. But it definitely comes on after a big bike ride. Especially if I'm climbing a lot. I rode on Friday, stretched at night and had no problems. Saturday night was when it got me after sitting in the recliner nice and comfortable. If someone has more info other than rest, fluids, stretching and electrolyte replacing. Also Calcium, Magnesium and potassium

Hi...I've had the same problem since 2008, have been under the care of both a neurologist and a rheumatologist for a few years now. The rheumatologis diagnosed fibromyalgia approx a year ago...prescribed gabapentin which helps more than other meds. I am not much for sweets, but did start eating some lollips yesterday, did have some short episodes yesterday (1/15/16); and jus t suffered a bout of lenghty episodes today after eating another lollipop. It did cross my mind yesterday that the candy may have provoked the episodes; so I'm glad to have read your story, as you made the same connection I suspected after eating the candy. Tks for sharing!
