I've heard a shot of dill pickle juice will stop the spasm. I'm keeping a closed jar of pickles under my bed to be ready for the next session . I will post my results

It's crazy how bad these inner thigh cramps hurt. I don't have any medical problems other than being overweight and a thyroid issue that started within the last 5 yrs. Became obese around age of 21. I've been having these horrible inner thigh cramps since I was 13 yr old. I'm 38 now. All the Dr I've seen want to say it's my weight causing the cramps. It's not true! I tell them. I've been dealing with the since I was a kid. All they see is the weight. I want to know what the heck is wrong with me. Im tierd of living my life in fear of the next cramp. If i move, stand up, twist, lie down the wrong way the flicker happends and you know what comes next. You have quickly assume the get ready to fight the cramp position. Sometimes I can stop it and alot of times I'm not able too. Sweeping, vacuuming seems to aggravate the lower back too which causes the cramp. And after fighting the clamp down cramp, im exhausted and sore for a few days as if I'd ran 10 miles. I found that as soon as i feel the flicker... if i could stand up quick enough and put the good leg over the top of bad leg at the knees and thigh. Almost like you holding pee..and use the good leg to apply pressure to bad leg at the top side of the inside edge of the thigh and knee & kind of twisting/ pushing that muscle from the top side edge of the thigh and knee around and towards the back of the leg. And hold it until u feel everything start to relax. Stand straight and still as possiable while compressing that muscle firmly and tightly. That's just something that helps me sometimes. I used to try and grab the muscles with my hand and push them around towards the back. To much space to cover.
Ive been seeing a weight Dr. I've went from 325lbs to 270lbs. I'm taking all the vitamins, VD3, Magnesium Citrate, B 12 and the cramps still happen. I've had a lower back MRI but that was 10 yrs ago. They didn't find anything. I don't think it was done properly. I just don't think the Dr's know what to look for. This symptom has never been diagnosed from what I can tell. I slept in a recliner for several years. My husband got tired of me not being with him in bed so he got me a temperpedic ergo bed. You know the bed the head and feet will raise up on. I can set it in almost a recliner position. That helped quite a bit.
Have any of yall had a tail bone injury? I fell while learning to ride a bike when I was about 6 or 7 on the pavement. I flipped backwards and landed directly on my tail bone. I couldnt walk or standing up straight for several days or sit down. I think i broke my tail bone. Anyway. .. My theory. . Is that when i broke my tail bone it healed back wrong with nerves, tendons or ligaments or whatever caught between the break or something. And every time i do something strenuous that day it aggregates whatever is caught in the tail bone and causes it to be inflamed and cut of circulation to the nerves that are in the inner thigh. When "IT" happens i can trace from where it starts on either side of my tail bone downwards underneath to my groin down my inner thigh to the inside edge of my knee. It's ruining my life. I can't even do what a wife is supposed to do with their husband... unless it's a certain way and still have to be careful to not twist the wrong way. It's interfering with work, driving, outings, house cleaning. I can't do anything due to being so scared of the cramps. So if anyone knows a answer other than the ones that are already posted cuz I've tried them all, plz let me know. We need a Dr that will listen and figure this out. Thanks for listening.

I have been having these for a few years and the pain is the worst ever... I don't have back issues so that rules that out - the only thing I can see I have in common is the acid reflux med Nexium. I drink so much water that I know it is not dehydrated. I wish there was something that would help - my poor husband gets a very rude awaking every time it happens because I scream out. Bless him he will stand and rub my leg for the full 10-15 minutes it has me screaming. There are times that I have them in both legs at once. When they subside I end up laying perfectly still and straight for a couple hours before I can move without it coming back - which for someone who drinks as much water as I do could be a problem when you have to go pee like last night - took me 2 hours before I could move again - just about didn't make it.

I feel your pain. I to get inner thigh spasms and my doctors don't know what may cause it. I've read to drink 2ozs of dill pickle juice. The last episode was a week ago as you know you can't walk to the frig to get pickle juice so i kept an unopened jar under my bed. I drank at least 4 oz of the juice and the spasms lasted about 5 minutes instead of 10. Not sure if this resulted in the juice. I've since bought a 2nd jar unopened and placed it under my bed. On occasion before bed I will each a few pickle strips. BTW I'm not overweight and it was not magnesium deficiency or any unbalance in my blood. Most doctor say hydration and to stretch more frequently. I drink more water than anyone I know because I have a history of kidney stones.

I also get these horrible cramps.....Mostly getting out of a recliner or just stretching while sleeping.....Only way I can get them out is to stretch like I am trying to do the splits and then get my whole body straight up..I am married and my wife runs to get frozen food out of freezer which shocks it and allows me to stretch it sooner..Can get them out in about 5 minutes with my wife's help but can last longer if nobody is around..Worse pain in my adult life

I know exactly how you feel. The only thing I can do is crawl upstairs to get in the shower and put very hot water on the cramping area. Also with a hand held shower head. I have passed out from the episodes a couple of times. Nobody knows how much these cramps hurt or how they make you feel. It's like adrenaline starts pumping through your whole body and causes a panic attack like sensation.

I also am looking for relief from these. I have only had a few...but these are bad enough I NEVER want to experience them again. Like you, woke this morning to use the bathroom and it came on so suddenly it knocked me to the floor. This one lasted a good ten minutes and kept coming back and coming back. I hate to admit this but I also had tears running down my face...and urinated on my self a little because I COULD NOT walk. And like you , I have athsma. Take a statin for cholesterol . Everyone says drink more water, but I have been in to the Yucatan peninsula for about 1 1/2 years and drink maybe 2 to 3 times the average amount! 63 years old and in excellent health. Gym 2 or 3 times a week, and have a Fitbit and average well over 10000 steps a day. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Oh, one thing I forgot when I reach down to try rubbing my thigh it feels like I have an extremely tight piano wire running down my leg and you can feel it pulsing.

Everyone, people in medical field, equate these to muscle cramps, I have had cramps, and these pains are completely different . Not even the same ballpark, would have to guess 30 to 40 times worse than any cramp I have experienced, easily! Like the other person stated, on a one to ten scale I would put them at 25 to 30! And like I stated previously, it feels like a taught, pulsing piano wire in my leg.

You can't compare the pain to leg cramps more like an intense inner thigh spasm. When I have an episode I can actually see the muscle in my inner thigh twist. I did try 2 oz of dill pickle juice, it cuts the time down to 4 to 5 minutes, still unbearable.

I Can't explain how or why it works but at the time if the cramp I take baby asprin along with 3 mustard packets or 3 tsp of mustard. Almost instant relief!

I had the same problem and after 5 years of seeking help, I finally found a doctor that sent me to have a MRI of my back - which never bothered me. Results were that he couldn't believe I was not bed-fast due to the condition of my back. I had back surgery and have hardware in L4 & L5. This has been great for 4 years and now it is starting again. Seems like a vicious circle.

WOW! A "community" that has experienced what I experienced. These bouts would put me on the floor. For me, the immediate answer was to stop Statins. I had been on Statins for 5 years after heart issues and a heart stent. At one time, we stopped the Statins for about a week or so and it didn't have any effect. After much "searching" and even a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, my family doctor decided it just had to be the Statins. I stopped the Statins for 3 months and those awful cramps stopped....seems like it was just after 3 weeks or so. I've not had them again and that's been about 1 1/2 years. I am, though, having some deep inner thigh spasms-cramping-??. It seems to be brought on my cold and constriction. Next check up I'll mention it to Dr. I hope the "statins angle" is helpful to someone - it was a life saver for me!!!!!!
