Have you heard of a product called Hot Shot? These cramps are a nerve issue, and Hot Shot (like pickle juice) coats the nerves.

I understand the pain completely. This is no charlie horse. The pain is so bad that I too have cried and even passed out. I never know when it is going to happen. I do know that it is related to my lower back...tail bone area. I'd rather go through natural childbirth, than these spasms. I've had a few occassions when I had the spasms in both legs ...inner thigh. I take muscle relaxants and am now taking these MagPhos tablets. I wish someone knew how to help me.

Want to know why you think this is related to your lower back? I too have lower back pain in the L4 & L5 area. Last night I had another episode in the inner thigh between knee and groin lasting about 8 minutes. Pain is so extreme that I feel like I'm about to vomit .

I gt them in my inner thigh up to my hip joint which then locks...and you're right all you can do is lay there and cry because all movement caused excruciating pain in my hip joint and tightening of the inner thigh even more....

I have these inner thigh cramps. They are so bad I cannot stand it. Can't move, can't stand straight, or sit. I keep a little cup of dill pickle juice beside my bed, because I can't walk to the kitchen to get it when I have these killer cramps. It always works.

Mine started for the first time in several months. Usually at night before I go to bed (about 10-10:30) and always with a stimulus....that being getting up from the couch bending my knee beyond 90 degrees. What works for me is heating pads (I use corn sacks heated in microwave....my wife is aways quick to get them heated. While that is heating I gulp some tonic water with quinine (we used this in track years ago to stop leg cramps). I also take a potassium tablet and a magnesium tablet on alternating days. It is usually when I run out of these and forget to re-supply that the cramps come back.
Hope that helps.

I am only 16 years old and I get inner thigh cramps at least once a week. Except I get them throughout any time of the day, at night I only get cramps in my lower leg muscles. Whereas inner thigh cramps, I get them on the day time. When I get them, my legs lock and if I try to pull my leg out it gets worse, and I have to wait until its over for me to move. And yeah I get that crazy look from people too when I get them, but I can't help but shout and express that I'm in pain. I feel like I may be a bit off, and my cramps are in a different area, so where do you guys get your pain at??

I have felt this God awful pain for the last 15 years! I used to get relief in a hot tub but had to literally crawl outside and down the steps to get into it. It worked, but now the hot tub is gone and I have found Absorbine muscle rub (for horses, maybe it's a stronger formula). It's a green gel and all natural stuff, spearmint scented, not at all hot, priced at $12/ 16 ounce bottle...worth every penny. I rub it in following the length of my muscle and it really helps. It's for natural healing and circulation. It's for when horses get 'stocked up' from standing in a trailer and riding long distances. The roll-on kind doesn't work as well. My spasms start if I turn the wrong way in bed suddenly, so that seems to mean it's about arthritic hips but when it hits if I have to get up to pee at night, there's just no way to sit down, I have to stand in the shower and pee. It feels like the muscle is tied in a knot and sometimes I can see it thru my skin! Lucky I live alone because I scream and cry and my poor dogs seem to know I'm in pain.

What you have described is exactly what happens to me. I too can see my inner thigh muscle twist! Is ABSORBINE MUSCLE RUB GEL for horses the same as ABSORBINE JR.?

The first change you mentioned is the cause of this, I know exactly what you're experiencing, this started happening to me after i started suboxone treatment.
The most painful thing I've ever experienced not a leg cramp at all, a horrible spasm.
I'm starting to realize the damage Suboxone is doing to me.

The heating pad and a hand held masager is the only thing that helps once I feel that old familiar pain coming on and let me tell you, I have tried everything. My husband passed away about a year ago. He slept in a recliner. After he passed I started sleeping in it just to feel close to him and I discovered that I no longer get those screaming thigh spasms nor do I wake up with anymore lower back pain. The recliner is oversized as he was a large man and I can bend my knees and rest them on the arm rests and this is what prevents the muscle cramps.

Allen,
"because I ceased milk (not dairy, though... I still eat yogurt and cheese)... or because i essentially stopped coffee? (but i drink diet sodas with caffeine and I actually had coffee daily these past 4-5 days and my worst cramping was yesterday.."
1.Milk is actually horrible for you!
2.Soda/coffee (caffeine) probably exacerbates the cramping.
3.They are also most likely counteracting your water intake due to being diuretics (coffee) and the insane amounts of sugar/chemicals (soda)

This is what I've noticed:
I work on my feet all day, when I work at an extreme pace, extremely hard all day and my fluid intake doesn't keep up with my pace (because I don't have a moment to breathe), and they are a guaranteed to hit while I'm in a deep sleep. The fact that I start my day with coffee only increases the likelihood.
I have an extremely high tolerance for pain. The worst pains in my life have been natural, prolonged, childbirth. A kidney stone, which is comparable in pain level, but not duration. And these f@#$ing things. I actually think they beat the other 2. Granted during birth I had bouts of screaming, but these cause screaming obscenities, prayer begging (call it that because it starts out as praying then turns into straight up begging God to stop them), pacing in circles applying intense pressure, if it's 1 leg, leaning against back of chair and shaking leg VIGOROUSLY and begging for it to not hit other leg. Like most posts I've seen, starts in right leg. One was so bad I broke out in a cold sweat and had to scream to wake up family for help because I was on the verge of passing out.
These are the notes I've taken of most pertinent information I've found so far:
*High bg can cause
*Dehydration
*Loss of calcium, magnesium
Treatments;
*MAGNESOUM TAIRATE. CARDIOVASCULAR RESEARCH... you can find it most helpful apps stores and Walgreens actually carry this 180 capsules for 28.95....
it say is scientifically designed amino acid mineral complex ensures maximal bioavailability of the essential macro mineral magnesium a fully reacted complex and its not simply a blend of the two materials
*500 mg of magnesium every day.
*Eat baking soda chased with water during cramp
   *Calcium and potassium pills daily
*5 or so tums while cramping
*a week ago I started with a calcium, magnesium, and Zinc supplements

I'm going to start with the 500mg mag., try an electrolyte rich drink and calcium supplement...NOT from milk. Do some research on the negative effects of milk. We are not calves and weren't designed to drink another animals milk meant to nourish that species. If that fails, I'm trying the MAGNESOUM TAIRATE.
Someone needs to medically research this.
Good luck!

Lisa
