You're absolutely not alone and certainly not crazy. What I have come to find is that ice relieves it within the course of 10 minutes. My husband runs and get ice bags that are already prepared in the freezer and applies pressure to the inner thigh and within 10 minutes it usually goes away. Do not get up and try to run or walk just lay there and let the Ice take its course.
Someday maybe someone will be able to help us figure this out .

After eating sweets or drinking just one glass of wine can initiate groin to knee/inner thigh spasms in me. I would rather give birth ten times than to experience them. The anticipation of them occurring makes me a nervous wreck. I had bilateral laminectomy and bilateral foraminotomy three months ago to eliminate constant pain and numbness from hip to toe in left leg. That pain is completely gone, but the inner thigh spasm returned three months after surgery and during rehab for back. I will return to my neurosurgeon for suggestions and spasm pain med to reduce episodes if that can be done. I can identify with those who suffer as I do that would rather end their life than continue to experience that kind of pain, but I am trying to maintain my faith as I ask for grace from my God to help see me through as well as for appropriate medical intervention. And I also know I need to do my part to improve the situation in my body. May God shed His grace on all of you who suffer with this nerve disorder. I hope you each find your personal solution.

I am 59 and in fairly good health. I take Hydrochlorothyazide (HCTZ) for high blood pressure.
I have noticed that sitting in the recliner with my feet up for more than half an hour brings on foot of calf cramps.
The night before last all of a sudden both inner thighs went into the worst imaginable cramps and then my calves started cramping as well.
I jumped up in excruciating pain and started hobbling around trying to "walk it off". No how, no way!
Tears came to my eyes as the pain became unbearable and I didn't know how to make it stop.
My husband ran and got me a Gatorade and I had him pour a packet of my prescription potassium into it and slugged it down hoping it would help.
The thought came to me to get on our whole body vibration platform. Many chiropractors have them in their office and you can buy them online and I have seen them at. Costco. I was desperate!
I just hit the button that turns it on because the pain was so intense I couldn't think about what program to use.
As I stood there vibrating on a lower intensity, the cramp seemed to melt away and was completely gone within about 5 minutes. It had probably been going on for about 10 at that point.
About an hour later it hit me again and again I went in to the vibration machine and again the cramp just kind of melted away and I haven't had one since.
I am now afraid to sit in the recliner with my legs up at all. I will be trying this again with any type of leg cramps I get and see if I get the same results.

Inner Thigh muscle spasms. Burning, and so painful it takes your breath away. I get these on occasion. The first time I got one I almost called 911. It was very frightening. Of course it went away after a few minutes but I had never felt anything like it before. The next time I had one was after being out one night with friends. We had been sitting on these high stools, that were very hard and uncomfortable and they pressed very hard on the back of my legs, so had to adjust because my foot would go numb. The next morning while climbing out of bed - it was like an attack - bam - the muscles on both of my inner thighs started to contract so hard and the burning and pain was excruciating. I stood up, but couldn't move. I literally screamed in agony. I was alone, so no one heard me. It was frightening. I made my way to the shower and stood under the hot water, crying in pain. After about 5-7 minutes It started to subside. When it was over I can only describe it as it being like an earthquake. After that I started to get them periodically. I finally did some research and discovered that several reasons could be the cause. Dehydration and electrolyte imbalance and mineral deficiency were the biggest. I found that whenever I had one, if I quickly grabbed a Gatorade (contains electrolytes and minerals) and consumed at least 8-10 ounces the pain would either subside quickly or I could even stop the pain midstream. I know my problem is that I am way out of shape, my muscles are very tight and I also have always had trouble with vitamin and mineral absorption. So, the biggest reason for me is a Magnesium, potassium and electrolyte deficiency, plus possibly other vites and minerals, being well hydrated and the lack of exercise and stretching that is the cause of it for me. Hope this helps anyone else.

I have same inner thigh spasms. Had bilateral laminectomy and bilateral foraminotomy to correct genetic issue. Pain ended. But my inner thigh pain in both legs continues. Only med that works for me is Metaxalone. And it works instantly--maybe 2 min. or less. It is a muscle relaxant that works with the brain. Going back to neurosurgeon for another MRI. Had already started physical therapy after my surgery. When I finished a session, I could sense inner thighs wanting to spasm, but they didn't. I can identify with everyone's pain. It is horrific when it happens. I would rather give birth to my children again than to experience it. God bless each of you.

Hi all. I found u. I just experienced my cramp from hell and there is no use going back to bed. I'm up anyhow in an hour. I've read with great admiration for all of you. The pain, this inner thigh is excruciating and I too weep and just pray "just please please make it stop". Someone in a post equated it to pulling the muscle off the bone and that is exactly how I described it. It is a pain s intense, you can do little but hyperventilate. I try rubbing the area. Nothing. I spray bio freeze, sometimes that works. I pop my trust muscle relaxant prescribed pill, and Im thinking this is what eventually releases the muscle. Ivebeen suffering with other leg cramps, foot, toe, ankle, alot recently. Always had them, they just seem more frequent and worse, now. A few years ago I was dx with stasis dermatis, a minor circulatory issue in my right leg. . I have and wear compression socks. Not all the time but I had them on yesterday. I have purchased and wear Dansko shoes because these are touted as the best shoes for your legs. I'm technically retired but work part time at a local grocery store. Last evening I worked 8 hours, pushing, pulling, bending, stocking, reaching. I work out, for at least an hour, but usually 90 minutes, 4 ~ 5 times a week. I stretch beyond stretching. I take mega doses od ever vitamin under the sun, including 25k units of D, extra potassium and a magnesium vitamin that contains calcium and zinc. I drink tonic water sometimes and I've drank dill pickle juice. I have done everything I can possibly do to help myself. Next week I am going to my doctor and I am requesting an appt with a vascular specialist. In my case I just believe my muscles, for whatever reason, in both legs, are suffering vascular issues. Coincidentally it seems to be worse if I only use 1 pillow to sleep versus 2, or 3. I believe because with 1, the blood flow to my legs is limited and my cramping is due to lack of blood supply, oxygen, or both. But this has got to stop and Dr's need to start taking this sh*t seriously.

Are you a Diabetic? I've been told that high blood glucose levels, especially at rest and then movement, causes these. I get them too and SWEET JESUS are they painful.

very interesting, eating sweets before bed yes, I can link that too...I do take b complex in sublingual form so it goes immediately in your system, I also heard tonic water is a good old fashion remedy, and gator aid ..for electrolytes balance...has to do with over use in muscles, maybe a half banana for the potassium. I am an aquatic Instructor, and notice them more frequently, they do last about 1/2hr.
