My sister (65) began experiencing difficulty in swallowing almost 3 years ago. Then she had trouble opening her eyes in the morning. It progressed to where she could no longer smile and her speech was raspy. ALS & myasthynia gravis were ruled out along with amyloidosis. For the past year her arms & legs have weakened to the point where a flight of stairs exhausts her;  if She fell down, she couldn't get up without help..

She's had muscle biopsies, bloodwork, all kinds of scans and still no diagnosis. ThanKfully she is in no pain. The Boston M.D. s are puzzled.

Any thoughts or  suggestions are gratefully & desperately appreciated!

How was myasthenia gravis ruled out? It sure sounds suspicious that it could be. My brother has MG and my grandmother had it. Also a good friend of mine has it. For some reason it seems to be more common than it used to be.
