My son was circumcised when he was 4 due to a tight foreskin. He is now almost 9 and he still complains about his penis hurting him when ever he gets an erection. I am not sure if this has to do with the trauma of the circumcision (which was awful and about which we got no warning) or whether he actually has real pain. Also his penis, when erect, seems to point somewhat upwards in a slight 'arc'. I would appreciate advice on what I should do. I have been back to the doc with him but he sees nothing wrong (mainly because the issue only arises when my son has an erection). Thanks

Hey concerned, when ur son complains where does he say it hurts? Is it right behind the corona (back part ot the glans/head) or is it down further on the shaft. Like there the curve is? Also how big is the curve? Thanks

Hi Biomajor10. He is a bit vague about where it hurts him. It seems to be at the corona but also on the shaft of the penis.

The curve is maybe 15 or 20 degrees if that makes sense. Thanks.

hmmmm that is confusing. has he always had pain durring an erection? is his circumcision tight and does he still have a frenulum,

I know hes a bit young but is he showing any signs of puberty or penile growth,

It could be that the skin is tight and causing discomfort

This is easy. There is not enough skin left to allow the expansion of the penis when erect, so it hurts. Tissue expansion is necessary to fix it. This is done by stretching the remaining shaft skin.

He never should have been circumcised because tight foreskin at age four is completely normal and very definitely NOT an indication for circumcision.

Roland23 i like to know where did u study medicine ?

Also i wonder how u can tell that his son did not need a circumcision back then? Ur right a tight foreskin at that age is normal but there are some boys out there who cant urinate properly or might have reoccuring infections due to a to tight foreskin and for those a circumcision might be just the right thing.

I dont say RIC is the right thing, but there are conditions who i think a circumcion is the right thing to do.

you did the wrong thing his foreskin off. yes tight foreskin can be painful but there is a cream that the doc gives the child to soften the foreskin.  now he will have problems when he is an adul

Jake:

Every condition for which circumcision has been prescribed may be treated conservatively. It is safe to say that this child did not need a circumcision.

hi i think geting him took back to a docter so they can look at it. but like when you are 9 and that hapens it is very uncumferitable cause you not use to it doing that but you get older and it more use to it doing that.

Never should have been circumcised, what a tragedy. A 'tight' foreskin is natural at age 4 and there are so many other alternative treatments... Poor boy went through such an unnecessary surgery.
