Hi Walshy,

I don't have good news.

You can expect his mental faculties to continue their decline.  He may even become more violent and need to be medicated.  How soon this will happen, we can't predict.

Eventually he'll likely be in a wheelchair or bedridden.

At some point he'll probably develop pneumonia.  It's very common in nursing facilities as the cause of death.

All I can say is be there for him and do your best to support him.  Don't give up on him and don't get frustrated.  He may understand what you are saying but his brain just can't respond correctly.  A home is a good place for him, for his own safety.  He'll need 24 hour care.

IMy best to you, your dad, and his family.
