I've known my mother-in-law for over 2 years and have been married to her son for just a few months. She was born premature w/ an underformed right eye. It was removed when she was very young and a glass eye was fitted in its place. Throughout the time I've known her she has made mention of regaining her sight in that eye. Once I asked her if she thought she would gain her sight back in this life or the next (meaning heaven) and she didn't have a straight answer for me. She has mentioned "cuts" or "tri-cuts" where the new eye is growing in under the glass eye. She also believes that her spine is straightening out and that her ab muscles are firming up w/ out any work on her part. It doesn't seem like she has any kind of dementia or alzheimers although this hasn't been ruled out. She's only 50 and in otherwise decent health.
I'm not asking if you all think she's crazy ... I want to know if anyone has heard of this type of thing before, the "cuts" or "tri-cuts"??? The only thing I have found is a thing called "creative miracles" where wounds instantly "heal" or where a amputated leg starts to "grow" back. Personally, everything I've found on these types of miracles seems rather bogus with skewed explanations and little supporting evidence.
I only had one opportunity alone with her to probe for more information, but was unable to do so since we were out at a restaurant together and I was afraid of how she may react in public should I question her. She doesn't mention it too often because she know's her son doesn't like to talk about it and I just kind of keep my mouth shut for the most part. I want to scream and say, "Seriously, you've been having these 'tri-cuts' for over 2 years, where's the dang eye at?" ;-)
It seems like her doctors just grin and say nothing. Even a relative of hers, who is a doctor, just lets her say these things w/ out questioning her or offering to examine her.
So, has anyone heard of this kind of thing? And what should I do? How should I take advantage of the next time she mentions this?

Leave her alone, like many in her family are already doing. If she is otherwise physically healthy, such mental lapses should not be too much of a concern. The truth is not everything. Personal happiness is far more important.
Thanks hoseclamps. Well, the problem with that is: EVERYONE wants to know what's up w/ what she's saying, but NO ONE will ask her where she's getting this from. And I forgot to mention this: We think there is a possibility that she has been brainwashed by a religious group or person/pastor. From what she says this group/person is no longer a part of her life, however I think the damage has not yet been reversed.
So has anyone heard of this type of thing? Anyone have an experience w/ a family member believing that a body part is growing back?

This is mere bull, actually, just from the question. The liver is the only organ of the body that can naturally regenerate.
