my period usually only lasts for about 3-4 days and typically starts a couple of days after i start the placebo pills. This month i missed about a week of my pills and then tried to make up for them the next week. My period is now 4 days late, could the change in my pill intake be part of the cause of my late period?
It sure looks like the change in rhythm of taking the birth control pills is responsible for disturbances in your bleeding, simply because there is no reason or official advice to try to “make up” for missing the pills for the whole week. That week without pills served as your placebo week and if you waited a bit more you would have gotten your period then. Only time when there is a point to take missed pills is when you are no more than 3 days late, in all other cases its clearly written that you shouldn’t take anymore pills until you have and finish your period. Hose pills you’ve taken don’t protect you from pregnancy anyway. Now you need to wait.
