My step daughter has been having sore throats since she had her tonsils taken out a year ago is that normal? She said it hurt bad enough that it made it hard to swallow her food.

How long ago did she have them out. I do know that you can still get strep throat even if you have had your tonsils out. I am proof of that. Have you looked at her throat? Could she be looking for attention, like the kind she got right after surgery? I would at least check her throat to see if there is anytime going on, or just bite the bullet and take to doctor for definitive answer.
